Away is seeking a razor-sharp Product Development Associate to help coordinate our luggage supply chain diversification and product improvement programs. You will support all aspects of core luggage improvement and help to set up suppliers. This will include competitor assessment, product research, timelines and project tracking, sourcing and interfacing with factories and product testing. This person should be driven to question luggage norms to develop truly innovative product features and durable materials. There will also be opportunities to manage supplier relationships and be at the core of our ongoing supplier strategy

The ideal candidate will be excited to bring a no-task-is-too-small attitude to the team and learn about product development in a fast paced environment.

This role is based out of our headquarters in NoHo, New York City and reports to our Director of Product Development.

REQUIREMENTS 

What you'll do:

  • Track and organize sampling and feedback throughout development & supplier setup processes
  • Help coordinate design reviews, manage product development calendars, project plans and status trackers
  • Help to source, assess, engage and develop deep relationships with manufacturers worldwide
  • Research and explore novel solutions to QC issues
  • Communicate daily with manufacturers and design team to ensure product specifications, quality standards and deadlines are met
  • Create and maintain costing tables and land costs accordingly

Who you are:

  • 1-4 years of work experience in a product-development role
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree from a top university
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Hyper-organized and excited to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Able to communicate effectively with internal teams and factories
  • Strong work ethic and a can-do attitude
  • Thrives on meeting tight deadlines in a very fast-paced environment
  • Enjoys working with manufacturers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Love to travel and have a great sense of humor

Nice to have:

  • Understanding of process, costing, fabric, color
  • Experience working with factories worldwide
  • Chinese (Mandarin) a plus but certainly not essential
