The Role:

The Senior Product Manager will own the Content Management experience at Newsela, empowering the Content team to create engaging article, lesson, and video content to deliver meaningful classroom learning for teachers and students across the U.S. Reporting to the Director of Product Management, you will partner closely with key stakeholders across Product, Content, Technology, Design, Data, and Video to support and reimagine the existing Content Management/Content Creation (CMS/CCS) ecosystem. Your goal is to develop impactful, simple to use solutions and features for delivering content that improves classroom learning for K-12 teachers, students, and admins. You’ll be an active participant in user research and testing, including being involved in field work, prep and debrief, reviewing of the insights, and quantitative validation. You’ll also have regular contact with key personas (publishers, student, teacher, admin) to understand usage of existing products or define new products.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

This role will encourage you to think creatively and strategically in order to transform Newsela’s existing best-in-class CMS platform into an even more robust CMS/CCS ecosystem, impacting the learning and teaching experience of tens of millions of users across the U.S. You will have the opportunity to devise and own the roadmap for this critical endeavor, drawing upon your deep understanding of content ecosystems, CMS and CCS tools. You will also have the opportunity to provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members on our Product team. Your work will ultimately enable the scalable delivery of engaging, culturally responsive learning content to teachers and students nationwide.

Why We’ll Love You:

You are a communicative, collaborative, and highly capable product manager with excellent long-term strategic thinking capabilities. You have 5+ years of product management experience successfully building, maintaining, and optimizing Content Management and/or Content Creation product suites (bonus if in the edTech space), as well as additional experience in SaaS product management. You have built and defended product roadmaps, and always leverage data analytics to drive decisions in both the planning process and execution. You have a deep understanding of technical and data architectures (modeling/flow) which informs your roadmapping decisions. You love solving complex problems, are able to clearly communicate priorities and can inspire and influence a cross-functional team to deliver on your goals. In addition to your product management skills, you understand technology well enough to break down work into achievable 2-week projects, with a demonstrated success in prioritizing work to achieve value as quickly as possible effectively challenging your team to optimize for value delivery.
