As the trend towards eCommerce and “Buy Now, Pay Later” continues to accelerate, more and more retailers are becoming familiar with Affirm’s product offering as a way to grow their business while meeting their customer needs. This trend is compounded by Affirm’s increasingly diversified set of consumer financial products, increasing commitment to performance marketing acquisition, and an increasing number of platform partnerships that expand a retailer’s ability to make use of Affirm to grow their business

As the Product Manager for “Merchant Growth”, you will be joining an early-stage team and find the opportunity for delivering a step-change impact on the business. You will focus on defining and executing on an opinionated strategy and roadmap to grow the merchant side of the Affirm Network, taking ownership of the number of active merchants using Affirm. You will build features and platforms that make it seamless and easy for merchants to begin using Affirm, from up-funnel awareness to the application experience to taking their first Affirm transaction to accepting their first funds disbursement. You will be a passionate voice for the user, have strong cross-functional support, and be able to exercise meaningful autonomy to deliver impact on key metrics as you maintain a laser focus on delivering the right functionality to serve acquisition and onboarding needs.

What you'll do

  • Grow the number of merchants that are active on the Affirm network
  • Own the merchant acquisition and onboarding roadmaps, collaborating with key stakeholders to set near- and long-term objectives, define metrics-based goals, and drive team progress against those goals
  • Collaborate with merchant growth marketing team to scale the platforms, processes, and data pipelines needed to unlock new channels for marketing acquisition, engagement, and retention
  • Design centralized systems and platforms that enable us to deliver a seamless merchant application and onboarding experience, taking into account the holistic merchant lifecycle and internal stakeholder needs in Sales
  • Relentlessly improve the onboarding funnel by identifying, quantifying, and reducing key customer pain points to improve conversion and reduce the cost of merchant acquisition
  • Partner with our analytics, growth marketing, and user research teams to develop an opinionated view on the overall merchant journey with the goals of accelerating merchant growth

What we look for

  • Adaptability and urgency to lead our Merchant Growth product efforts alongside a large group of cross-functional partners
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for precise articulations of customer problems
  • Experience managing technical software products from kick-off to post-launch
  • A get-things-done attitude to make your product and team successful - whether that means writing a QA plan or investigating the root cause of a customer support ticket
  • The ability to turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous inputs into solid action plans that are grounded in customer needs
  • An obsession for getting the details right, but also knowing how to ship on time
  • A drive to question assumptions and validate hypotheses
  • Familiarity with SQL and Excel for product analysis

Location

 

We’re excited to announce that Affirm is now a remote-first company!  The majority of our roles can be accomplished anywhere in the U.S. and Canada (with the exception of Quebec).  While most Affirmers will have the option to choose a remote-first accommodation, our offices in San Francisco, New York City, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Salt Lake City will remain operational and accessible for anyone to use on a voluntary basis. This role requires you to live within reasonable access to a particular office in order to fulfill certain job responsibilities.
