As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Production Director to lead the execution, operations, and client delivery functions of the agency while helping scale the company’s production capabilities, processes, and relationships. The ideal candidate will be an operational leader who can dynamically switch between pitches and active projects, helping build the systems, and infrastructure to allow the company to scale while preserving the creative energy and agility that defines AdHoc. 

About This Role

AdHoc is seeking a Production Director to oversee and lead the agency’s production operations across experiential campaigns, partnerships,, and client engagements. This role sits at the center of scoping, execution, and delivery– partnering closely with leadership, creative, strategy, partnerships, and operations teams to ensure projects are executed at the highest level, from concept through completion.

This role requires a highly organized, resourceful, and solutions-oriented leader who thrives in fast-paced environments balancing strategic oversight with hands-on execution. The role necessitates an experienced producer and team leader with strong creative and technical production knowledge, excellent communication skills, deep operational instincts, and the ability to manage multiple high-level projects simultaneously.

The Production Director will oversee production staff, project management, client delivery, production systems, vendor and contractor relationships, operational workflows, and overall execution quality while helping shape the future growth and scalability of the agency’s production department.

Role + ResponsibilitiesProduction Leadership & Execution
  • Direct and oversee all facets of production across experiential campaigns, live events, partnerships, content productions, and brand activations
  • Lead projects from kickoff through delivery, reconciliation, reporting, and post-mortem review
  • Oversee creative and technical production including fabrication, scenic, staging, AV, lighting, logistics, permitting, and technical integrations
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and at the highest standards of execution
  • Create on-site operations plans including load-in, installation, rehearsals, show operations, troubleshooting, and strike
  • Ensure compliance with venue requirements, permits, insurance policies, and safety standards
  • Identify project risks and proactively implement solutions
Scoping, Budgeting & Commercial Management
  • Lead production scoping and feasibility assessment during proposal development and new business pursuits
  • Work alongside partnerships and operations teams to develop Statements of Work (SOWs), project scopes, deliverables, timelines, assumptions, and production approaches.
  • Build comprehensive experiential production budgets covering labor, staffing, fabrication, venues, travel, logistics, technical production, and contingency planning
  • Create staffing plans and estimate production hours, resource allocation, and utilization requirements
  • Evaluate project profitability, staffing requirements, and execution risks prior to proposal submission
  • Partner with creative, operations, and partnerships teams to align budgets, scopes, timelines, and client expectations
  • Monitor project financial performance and maintain accountability for production profitability
  • Manage scope changes, change orders, budget revisions, and client approvals
  • Maintain production benchmarks, vendor pricing, staffing assumptions, and historical budget data to improve forecasting accuracy
Team Leadership & Resource Management
  • Lead and manage production employees, project managers, freelancers, contractors, and external production partners
  • Monitor staffing, capacity planning, and resource allocation across all projects
  • Forecast team utilization and workload to ensure efficient staffing and project delivery
  • Recruit, onboard, mentor, and develop production and creative talent
  • Build and maintain a national network of producers, vendors, fabricators, technical specialists, venues, creatives, and freelancers
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence
Client Leadership & Business Development
  • Serve as a senior client-facing leader across key accounts and strategic initiatives
  • Build and maintain client relationships that drive retention and recurring business
  • Lead production-related client communication throughout the project lifecycle
  • Support pitch development, proposal creation, budgeting, and execution planning for new business opportunities
  • Identify prospective clients, partnerships, and revenue opportunities
  • Represent the agency’s production expertise internally and externally
Production Operations & Infrastructure
  • Own and improve production workflows, SOPs, templates, tools, and operational systems
  • Maintain visibility across project health, staffing allocations, budgets, and departmental performance
  • Improve cross-functional communication between production, creative, strategy, partnerships, and operations teams
  • Manage relationships with production vendors, venues, fabrication partners, and technical providers
  • Develop scalable systems that support growth while maintaining execution quality
What You Bring
  • 6+ years of experience in experiential production, creative production, event production, or agency production leadership
  • Experience leading large-scale experiential campaigns, live events, brand activations, partnerships, or creative productions from concept through execution
  • Strong understanding of technical production including AV, lighting, scenic, fabrication, staging, and event operations
  • Proven ability to manage complex budgets, reconciliations, staffing plans, timelines, and profitability across multiple simultaneous projects
  • Experience managing teams with varying working styles across employees, freelancers, vendors, and contractors
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing large-scale project budgets and operational forecasting
  • Deep organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing vendor relationships and production partnerships
  • Ability to remain calm, resourceful, and solutions-oriented under pressure
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship management skills
  • Existing network of production vendors, technical partners, fabricators, venues, and freelance talent
  • Comfortable operating in fast-moving, high-pressure, and evolving environments
  • Familiarity with tools such as Asana, Google Workspace, Slack, DocuSign, Ramp, Zoom, and related production or operational platforms
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and sense of project ownership

Compensation
  • Salary Range: $110,000-$125,000 based on experience
  • Commissions from new business referrals
