About the team

This role reports to the Manager of Program Management under the Technology Strategy & Operations team. Our Program Management function plays a vital role in keeping Justworks’ Technology Division – comprising Product, Design, Engineering, and Data – focused and connected. We connect dots and break silos across teams by maintaining an effective operating cadence, managing strategic initiatives, and leading special projects that help translate strategy into execution.

​​As a Program Manager on the Technology team, you will work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and Data, in partnership with teams across Revenue, Operations, and Legal, to accelerate the delivery of high-impact initiatives that are critical to driving our strategy and alignment with company goals. You will drive product initiatives forward that have multiple stakeholders, competing deadlines, and many moving parts.In this role, you’ll act as a bridge between functions and teams, helping connect work across the organization and ensuring clarity, alignment, and follow-through. You will leverage and apply program management frameworks to support effective execution, manage dependencies, and drive accountability and delivery across initiatives within a core product domain.


You are comfortable bringing structure to ambiguity, tracking progress against plans, and escalating risks or trade-offs as needed to keep work moving forward. You thrive in cross-functional environments and are motivated by seeing complex initiatives translate into real outcomes.

Your Success ProfileWhat You Will Work On

As a Program Manager on the Technology team, you will be responsible for driving execution across one or more key initiatives within a core product or business domain. You will partner closely with Technology professionals and cross-functional leaders to ensure work is well-coordinated, risks are managed, and outcomes are delivered.

You will:

  • Lead the execution of cross-functional programs and initiatives, partnering closely with Product, Design, Engineering, Data, and other stakeholders, including Operations, Compliance, Customer Success, Product Marketing, and Sales
  • Support program planning and definition by determining program goals, scope, workstreams, and success metrics in partnership with functional leaders
  • Participate in and help drive discovery activities to understand business needs, constraints, and dependencies, translating findings into clear plans, milestones, deliverables, and timelines
  • Coordinate work across multiple teams, tracking dependencies, risks, and progress to keep initiatives moving forward
  • Facilitate program operating rhythms such as working sessions, check-ins, milestone reviews, and retrospectives
  • Develop, maintain, and own core program artifacts, including project plans, status updates, documentation, calendars, and risk logs
  • Communicate progress, risks, and key decisions to stakeholders and leadership with clarity and consistency
  • Identify, document, and escalate risks, blockers, and trade-offs in a timely manner, proposing options and recommendations when possible
  • Support incident and escalation management by organizing response workflows, maintaining visibility into status and risks, and ensuring timely communication and follow-up across stakeholders
  • Collect, track, and analyze data to inform decisions, measure progress, and surface insights
  • Support change management and rollout efforts, including coordination of enablement, documentation, and internal communications as needed
  • Engage with external vendors and partners to coordinate timelines, track deliverables, and support execution, in partnership with internal stakeholders and vendor managers
  • Contribute to the evolution of program management practices, templates, and operating norms across the Technology organization
  • Do what it takes to get the job done and motivate a team

Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of project or program management, strategy, or operations experience in a cross-functional environment (working across teams like Product, Design, Engineering, Strategy, and GTM)
  • Strong business acumen, including an understanding of tech/SaaS companies
  • Ability to learn about Justworks’ product, organizational structure, and other domains quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to drive execution and deliver outcomes across cross-functional initiatives, balancing competing priorities, dependencies, and timelines
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and collaborate productively with a wide range of partners and perspectives
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and engage stakeholders at varying levels
  • Analytical mindset, with comfort using data to inform decisions and track progress, including experience with data tools/language such as SQL, Tableau, and Excel
  • Creative problem-solver with a passion for making complex things simple(r) 

The base wage range for this position based in our New York City Office is targeted at $127,000.00 to $139,700.00 per year.

Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to skill set, level of relevant experience, and specific work location.  Salary ranges for positions based in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
