Project Manager, Data (Contractor)

About the role:

As a Project Management Contractor supporting the Data Organization at 8am, you’ll help transform how our data teams deliver impact across the business. You will serve as a critical operational partner — driving clarity, focus, and accountability across key initiatives in data engineering, analytics, and science.

You’ll manage project workflows, coordinate deliverables, and ensure the seamless execution of the data roadmap. From organizing sprints and managing Asana and Jira boards to preparing executive status reports, your work will keep the team aligned and performing at its best.

What you'll do:

• Organize and track key data initiatives, ensuring alignment with business priorities and timelines.
• Develop and maintain clear project plans, milestones, and deliverables across multiple workstreams.
• Lead agile ceremonies (sprint planning, retrospectives, stand-ups) to drive focus, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Manage priorities across Asana and Jira, ensuring visibility of team progress and removing blockers.
• Facilitate cross-functional communication between data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders across product and leadership teams.
• Prepare and deliver regular status reports, highlighting progress, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Support the implementation of best practices in project governance, prioritization, and documentation.

About you:

• 5+ years of experience managing projects in data engineering, analytics, or data science organizations.
• Proven ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and teams to achieve measurable results.
• Hands-on experience with Asana, Jira, and agile/scrum methodologies.
• Strong understanding of data workflows, pipelines, and analytics processes, with the ability to communicate effectively between technical and non-technical audiences.
• Exceptional communication, organization, and leadership skills, with a track record of fostering alignment and accountability.
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude AI, or similar) to improve decision-making, automate tasks, or optimize workflows.
• A results-driven mindset with the ability to adapt quickly, prioritize effectively, and maintain clarity amidst ambiguity.

Additional Information
The pay range for this position is between $75 - $90 per hour. 8am is committed to offering competitive, fair and commensurate compensation and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and education.  This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime.
