The Music team plays an important role as the interface between our listeners, artists, and other music industry constituents. In this role, you will oversee a portfolio of product related music projects and strategies designed to improve both the music discovery experience and to help artists find their audience. Your counterparts will primarily be teams in Product and Partnerships, but you will also deal with Marketing, Legal, Data Science, Design etc.
The Music Partner GTM team represents the “bridge” between Music Partnerships, Editorial, and our Product teams. The team’s mission is to ensure new products designed for artist expression and music discovery are optimized to meet the needs of Spotify's top partners including artists, labels, and management companies. Music Product Specialists are responsible artist pilots, content strategy, and industry adoption of our suite of Audience Development products (incl Marquee, Showcase, Discovery Mode, Spotify for Artists, etc). Your work will be highly strategic and will have a direct impact on the business.
What You'll Do
- Manage stakeholder relationships and strategic projects in collaboration with the Music Team, R&D, and Product Marketing. Areas of focus will be helping artists better understand, build, and engage their music audience on Spotify, while evolving the listener experience.
- Drive new product initiatives from concept to rollout, helping early stage products find product-market fit through close partnership with music industry partners.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance for cross-functional workstreams related to the artist and listener experiences alongside key stakeholders.
- Ensure Music Team alignment with product roadmap and funded initiatives.
- Recommend and operationalize recruitment strategy and comms for product pilots - connecting product to both internal and external subject matter experts.
- Build systems for managing partner relationships and collecting feedback in partnership with User Research. Ensure partner adoption goals are met.
- Translate technical product solutions into clear and concise narratives for Spotify’s partner facing teams in partnership with Product Marketing.
- Run effective meetings, remove blockers, and hold workgroup members accountable for their action items. Constantly strive to improve processes and ways of working so that the team becomes more efficient and impactful.
- Depending on the setting, assume different project roles - sometimes leading, sometimes supporting.
Who You Are
- 3+ years related experience in a strategy or operations role in music, media, or entertainment, from a consultancy firm, or from another complex business setting.
- You have managed cross-functional projects from start to finish, and are well versed in models, methods, and frameworks to efficiently do so.
- You have a proven ability to influence others, to flex your skillset, and to apply your experience in different ways, as required by the situation.
- You have experience from driving change and impact in a rapidly changing environment, and from interfacing with stakeholders across different disciplines and time-zones.
- You are highly analytical, experienced in sourcing and interpreting data, and confident making decisions based on it.
- A great storyteller - you share information in an inspiring, coherent, and compelling way.
- A strong individual contributor with a natural ability to build relationships with and instill trust in other people.
- Able to translate business requirements into technical requirements and vice versa, and to clearly and confidently communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Eager to attack unfamiliar problems with curiosity and tenacity, with a great appetite for learning.
- You have a genuine interest in the music industry at large, the mechanics of a streaming company, and the impact it has on the creator community.
Where You'll Be
- This role is based in New York City
- We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home. We ask that you come in 3 times per week.
