Market Research Project Manager (Contractor)

The Role

We're looking for an experienced market research Project Manager to work with our team on a contract basis. You'll help manage project operations across the full lifecycle, from pricing and feasibility, through programming and fielding, to close-out and invoicing, working across both quantitative and qualitative methodologies for clients in consumer, B2B, and public affairs research.

This is a contractor engagement, with the possibility of extension based on project needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Execution

  • Manage the operations components of assigned market research projects end to end, owning feasibility, timelines, and invoicing coordination
  • Coordinate with our in-house programming team on survey scripting, and test links and logic before launch
  • Monitor fieldwork daily - completes, incidence, LOI, participation, and quota fill - and act early when metrics drift from bid
  • Direct qualitative logistics for focus groups and IDIs, moderation, translation, and transcription

Vendor & Budget Management

  • Manage sample providers, recruiters, and translation partners, holding them to bid metrics and quality standards
  • Price projects and contribute to client proposals with vendor input
  • Track budgets and costs, and monitor project profitability against internal targets
  • Work with accounting on billing, AR/AP, and invoicing through project close

Collaboration & Quality

  • Serve as the operational link between our research and strategy teams and everyone executing the work
  • Give clear, proactive fieldwork updates and flag risks to timeline or feasibility before they reach the client
  • Apply quality controls throughout the project lifecycle and coordinate with our data specialists on deliverables and tracker waves

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years in market research project management or research operations, agency or supplier side
  • Hands-on experience fielding market research studies - you've managed sample providers, read a live fieldwork report, and made the call to relax a quota or add a provider
  • Working knowledge of qualitative fieldwork logistics: recruiting, screeners, moderation, transcription
  • Comfort with survey platforms and fieldwork portals (Decipher/Forsta or similar); familiarity with data or dashboard tools such as Displayr is a plus
  • Solid grasp of project pricing, budgets, and margin
  • Multi-market or multi-language fieldwork experience is a plus
  • Highly organized under pressure, with the judgment to escalate early and the autonomy to solve most things yourself
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English
  • Bachelor's degree

Engagement Details

  • Independent contractor engagement
  • Location: NY/DC; hybrid, with a minimum of three days per week in office
  • Must be authorized to work in the country where they are based
