Position Overview:

The organizers of the World Baseball Classic are looking for highly motivated candidates with a tireless work ethic to fulfill the role of Team Coordinator for the 2020 World Baseball Classic Qualifying Round. This position requires coordination of operational aspects for assigned National Team’s participation in the Tournament. The individual will act as the primary liaison between Tournament organizers and National Team representatives.

Responsibilities:

Pre-Tournament:

  • Act as the primary contact between WBCI and assigned National Team.
  • Confirm Official Team Delegation (including players, coaches, team staff, federation officials and guests)
  • Coordinate preparations and management of the National Team Training Camp by working with World Baseball Classic organizers along with other MLB departments and Host Clubs.
  • Ensure that all members of the Official Team Delegation have valid passports and proper visas for all (possible) venues.
  • Coordinate and book all air travel preparations including confirmation of commercial flights and/or ground transportation to/from the tournament venue(s)
  • Coordinate all team ground transportation needs including team buses, equipment trucks, team vehicles and additional vehicle requests.
  • Coordinate all hotel needs for National Team including compiling and confirming rooming lists, team office support, team check-in/check-out and additional appropriate requests.
  • Create, distribute, and maintain a day-by-day schedule for the National Team.
  • Coordinate all National Team ticket allocation, assignments, and purchase requests.

Roster Management:

  • Collect and disseminate player and team staff participation agreements.
  • Compile uniform information for all players and coaches.
  • Support and maintain regular communication with Venue Manager to confirm team roster, schedule and workout times.
  • Coordinate roster availability/player movement.
  • Daily game reports.

Qualifier Round:

  • Ensure hotel and ticket requests are constantly up to date.
  • Maintain regular communication with Venue Ground Transportation Coordinator to confirm team movements.
  • Ensure that all flight or ground transportation arrangements are made for team personnel’s return home.
  • Assist with any additional event-related requests as directed.

Post-Tournament:

  • Compile and outline all National Team related expenses and costs at the end of the Qualifying tournament

Throughout Assignment:

  • Monitor and facilitate on a daily basis the efficient flow of information and progress of documentation between MLB baseball operations department, World Baseball Classic organizers and National Team representatives.
  • Systematically follow up with National Team representatives and World Baseball Classic event groups regarding deadlines and completion of tasks.
  • Assist with international and domestic marketing initiatives for both the World Baseball Classic and assigned National Team.

Skills:

  • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a demanding and fast paced environment.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required for those assigned to Latin American National Teams.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Experience working in a professional sports and/or special events environment.
