Data Governance Lead at Newsela
The Data Governance Lead will lead and support Newsela’s Data Governance (DG) initiative by capturing, compiling, and documenting DG policies, best practices and recommendations. You will assist in developing metadata standards to ensure accuracy and consistency. You will create DG and Data Quality KPIs, document workflow and lineage to determine change impact, control DG project scope, goals and objectives and assist in building and maintaining centralized data inventories, dictionaries, and data flows as it relates to DG. You will also take a hands-on approach to collaborating across analysts and business professionals.

You will be joining the Data team as it doubles in size over the next year, and will help build the foundation for a product that transforms education through reading engagement.

You have 3+ years demonstrated success in leading data governance, Master Data Management (MDM) and data quality programs/projects in a complex environment with multiple operational systems and constituents You’re passionate about data governance and quality. You have experience defining data governance, MDM and data quality KPIs. You are a curious learner who enjoys understanding operational and data warehouse workflows and challenges, in addition to documenting and enforcing best practices. You have the innate ability to understand Sales, Marketing, Product, Clickstream data to deliver actionable insights. You do all this, while also contributing to an engaging data team culture.
