Job Description

Ten Speed Press seeks a creative and driven publicist to work on titles across the Ten Speed Press, Ten Speed Graphic, and Ten Speed Young Readers imprints. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a broad range of titles, including adult graphic novels, licensed pop culture properties, and children’s books. Candidates will be responsible for executing publicity campaigns for a wide range of titles, including picture/board books, licensed gift products, and ongoing graphic novel series. This includes creating press materials, securing national media, coordinating author events, attending conventions, and working collaboratively across departments. They will also be assisting senior staff on lead titles for the imprint and helping to organize and maintain department databases and media lists. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and highly organized.

 

Specific responsibilities include:  

  • Develop and execute publicity campaigns for 5-7 titles per season across the imprint, including media outreach and publicity mailings. 
  • Manage publicity budgets for assigned titles, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to maximize campaign impact. 
  • Plan and execute author tours which may require travel to book festivals, cons, and conventions to support author appearances.
  • Create publicity materials including press releases and author itineraries for tours.
  • Collaborate with internal teams. 
  • Represent campaigns in meetings with internal stakeholders, authors, agents, and external partners. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in publicity; book publicity experience preferred  
  • Highly organized with exceptional communication skills and ability to handle multiple projects 
  • Established contacts in book media or relevant media
  • Self-starter who can develop and execute effective publicity campaigns independently
  • Ability to manage budgets and allocate resources effectively across campaigns
  • Creative problem solver with a strong attention to detail and a results-oriented mindset
  • Ability to travel 3-4 times a year to festivals/conventions, and attend local events

Additional Information

The salary for this position is $70,500.00. All positions are currently eligible for an annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.   

 

This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA) or to our Ten Speed Press office in Emeryville, CA.
