Punjabi to/from English - Translator and Editor

Translates Punjabi and English official documents, including legal records, certificates, vital records, and academic transcripts. Reviews and edits translations for accuracy, grammar, formatting, and consistency while maintaining confidentiality and meeting quick turnaround deadlines. Works independently on an as-needed freelance basis, follows client instructions, and delivers client-ready materials in standard document formats.

**Important Requirement: Candidates must be U.S. citizens willing to complete a Tier 1 background investigation, including fingerprinting.
Position Overview:
GLS is seeking an experienced Punjabi-to-English or English-to-Punjabi translator and editor to support ongoing document translation and editing assignments.
This remote, freelance independent contractor role involves translating and editing a variety of official documents, including vital records, legal documents, official certificates, and academic transcripts. Assignments will be provided on an as-needed basis and may require quick turnaround timelines.
- Translate Punjabi to English or English to Punjabi into an accurate product.
- Edit and review translated materials for accuracy, grammar, formatting, and consistency.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all client-specific instructions and formatting requirements.
- Meet assigned deadlines, including one-to-two-day turnaround timelines, when required,
Requirements Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship and current residence in the United States are required.
- Native or highly proficient Punjabi and English language skills.
- A Bachelor’s degree in translation, linguistics, language studies, or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Two to five years of proven experience as a translator and/or editor.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent formatting skills, and the ability to produce client-ready work.
- Reliable, deadline-oriented, highly productive, and comfortable working independently.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, professional approach.
- Access to up-to-date Windows software and the ability to work with standard document formats.
- Able to provide per-word rates for translation and editing.
- Willingness to accept assignments on an as-needed basis.
