Job DescriptionGeneral Description:
- Part of the PepsiCo Quality Program (PQP), global business teams are classifying specifications/ingredients to enable food safety hazard assessment with a focus on FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) compliance.
- The identified resource will support sectors/business units with the mapping exercise as appropriate and coordinate incoming change requests for changes and re-assessments.
- Keen insights regarding raw materials in the manufacture of food and beverage will enable analysis of scientific research and identification of hazards associated with food materials.
- Fulfill Data Steward responsibilities in responding to change management of the material classification tool.
- Act as a point person/clearing house contact as questions arise and address SME teams when needed.
- Collaborate with business sectors globally to train, update, and communicate application of the classification tool and changes to the tool.
- Support enhancement of the hazard analysis with internal and external tools and data systems.
- Support automation project by liaising with database developers.
- Conduct user acceptance testing.
- Support accurate and timely mapping of ingredients to the new material classification.
- Maintain master files and adhere to document control procedures.
- Support related Food Safety technical services as needed.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Certification in or working knowledge of Food Safety and Quality systems
- Crisis management / recall management experience
Requirements:
- Knowledge of food materials and associated biological and chemical hazards and a general understanding of physical, chemical, and biological hazards associated with different categories of food and beverage ingredients.
- Experience in food safety, microbiology, and/or toxicology is preferred.
- Exposure to product development, manufacturing, and/or supply quality is also desirable (5+ years).
- Practical knowledge of food ingredients (how they are grown, cultivated, harvested, processed, distributed) and risk assessment thereof (5+ years)
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Excel; high frequency user experience with database/ product lifecycle management tools (e.g., Product Vision, SAP) (5+ years)
- Basic understanding of the Food Safety Modernization Act, domestic and international regulatory requirements
- Influential written and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational skills
