Gray's Digital Content Center and strategy team provides national content and strategic guidance to 120+ markets across the U.S. to drive audience on web, connected TV, news and weather apps, and social media distribution channels.

Job Summary/Description:

Gray Media is looking for confident, creative, and innovative digital content leaders to work with our newsrooms to grow their audiences and brands using digital, connected TV, and social media platforms.

The RDD's job is to ensure quality local content has effective production and distribution strategies to serve and grow our local audiences.

You will consult with newsrooms on how to best serve their local audiences on CTV, websites, mobile apps, and social media accounts.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated exceptional growth through years of digital-focused newsroom leadership experience. You will develop strategy and tactics to help formulate long-term digital playbooks for newsrooms in markets of all sizes.

While this position will not be involved in producing daily content, you will be fully immersed in daily breaking news and weather events for the portfolio of stations you serve, aiding stations in identifying trends and optimizing content for broad distribution. You will become well-versed in the consumption trends of the audiences in your region to provide timely recommendations.

The Regional Digital Director will work remotely in any Gray Media market and will be a key part of our leadership team in hitting key audience and revenue targets.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Constant communication with newsrooms under your regional purview
• Daily monitoring of station digital metrics to drive strategic recommendations
• Key focus on increasing total watch time across your region for station-owned CTV apps
• Regular monitoring of station social media execution for alignment with best practices
• Develop and lead best practice trainings and follow-up implementation
• Serve as a hands-on strategist during breaking news and severe weather
• Facilitate regional collaboration in strategic geographic areas for big stories and events
• Coach digital leaders and teams to strengthen the pipeline
• Partner with general managers and news directors to execute digital excellence

Qualifications/Requirements:

• 10+ years of television/digital media content production experience
• 5+ years of newsroom management/leadership experience
• Proven aptitude in using content management systems
• Demonstrated experience with driving audience via social media and search
• Demonstrated experience with growing consumption on CTV
• Ambition to help local stations excel on every digital platform
