KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The Regional Sales Director provides strategic leadership by guiding and developing District Sales Managers responsible for achieving sales and other objectives. Must have a leadership orientation and drive organizational success by inspiring a sense of ownership and a commitment to the accomplishment of desired results including forward planning, yearly sales, and business plans. Under their guidance, teams will be able to implement effective business strategies and provide excellent customer service in order to achieve sales, operations, and EBITDA goals. Due to the nature of the job, Directors must be able to travel 60-70% including long drives of 3-5 hours (company car provided), regular air travel throughout the Region.

 

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Owns overall regional business performance including sales, profitability, customer experience, talent, and operational execution.
  • Responsible for translating Music & Arts enterprise strategy into regional business plans using financial data to influence regional decisions.
  • Owns regional financial planning, forecasting, resource allocation, expense management, and EBITDA accountability.
  • Owns regional talent strategy, succession planning, leadership pipeline development, and organizational capability building.
  • Conducts business reviews focused on long-term growth, talent health, customer outcomes, and operational effectiveness.
  • Serves as strategic advisor to executive leadership, providing market insights, forecasts, and risk assessments.
  • Drive business transformation initiatives and continuous improvement efforts across the region through KPIs and operational compliance.
  • Partner with School Services to drive broader community, educator, and stakeholder engagement strategy across the region.
  • Work with District Managers to ensure that appropriate priorities are set, labor resources are properly allocated, and resources are budgeted to accomplish critical sales results and non-sales metrics (inventory review, shrink percentages, etc.)
  • Build a strong culture of engagement by responding to concerns, gathering feedback, and building trust amongst all associates within the region.
  • Travel to Regional / District stores with individual District Managers to assess the overall status of individual stores while also fostering professional development opportunities within the Region / District.

Based in Frederick, MD, Music & Arts is now part of the Guitar Center enterprise and comprises 225+ retail stores, 200+ educational representatives, and 250+ affiliate locations.

Preferred Qualifications

To join our band, you'll need the following experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or 4 years of equivalent work experience)
  • 7 years of experience as a District Manager, Store Manager, and/or Operations Manager
  • 7 years of experience leading and motivating teams
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, plan, implement, and evaluate a number of projects simultaneously while driving sales expectations, Regional metrics, and balancing the people-needs of the business
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills.
  • Strong business acumen including data management, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A high level of integrity, personal motivation, adaptability, and sense of urgency
  • Valid state driver’s license and automotive insurance
