Monitor, interpret, and analyze state and federal regulatory and legislative changes; advise and collaborate with divisional partners to ensure compliance; manage regulatory research, respond to public/state/federal inquiries, review PR materials for regulatory/reputational risk, and oversee consumer complaints and resolutions.
The Regulatory Government Affairs Specialist (Hybrid) will initiate, prepare, interpret, review, and monitor operational and public policy standards as set by New York State and federal legislature. In addition to overseeing public relations materials for regulatory and reputational risk content and communication of responses to public, state, or federal inquiries. They will also conduct regulatory research including communication of responses to public, state, and federal regulatory bodies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitor, interpret, and analyze, all state and federal regulatory and legislative introductions or amendments for impact to the company and our divisional partners.
- Provide strategic insight, direction, education, and clear communication to divisional partners to ensure comprehension of all regulatory and legislative introductions or amendments.
- Collaborate with divisional partners to timely incorporate all state and federal regulatory and legislative introductions or amendments into company processes to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with divisional partners that focus on gaining actionable insights, inviting perspectives, and contributions
- Acting as a liaison for NYCM Insurance by working and collaborating with other industry trade associations (i.e., Barrett Associates, National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) and New York State Department of Financial Services (NYSDFS)).
- Review external public relations material to ensure there is no reputational, financial, legal, or regulatory risk to the company.
- Conduct and/or participate in meetings as required to facilitate communication.
- Consistently share relevant knowledge within team setting.
- Conduct regulatory and legislative research as requested or required.
- Oversight of all consumers related complaints filed direct to the company or through the NYSDFS, Better Business Bureau (BBB) or legislative leaders, to investigation, resolution, and a timely response.
- Embrace a learning environment through continuing education, collaboration, and discussions with divisional partners

Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- 3 years’ experience with NYCM Insurance or related field.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Familiar with legal terminology and research techniques.
- Effective time management, organizational, prioritization, attention to detail, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to utilize technology and automation resources, including Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes databases.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret legal writings and determine how it will be applicable to NYCM Insurance.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
Market Range: 7 / 40 hours per week / Hybrid - 2 Days in Office
Salary: $52,354 - $81,439
