Job Summary

Provide dedicated relationship management to a portfolio of SME Banking customers by delivering professional, responsive, and high-quality service in a fast-paced environment. The role combines a strong customer service and sales focus, with primary responsibility for managing a larger portfolio of clients through office-based support, ensuring their banking needs are met effectively. Customer visits are conducted only on an exceptional basis, with most relationship management activities handled remotely while maintaining strong client engagement and satisfaction.

Job Description

Main Accountabilities

· To provide dedicated relationship management to a portfolio of SME Banking customers. This requires the jobholder to be able to operate under pressure, maintaining a professional and helpful approach at all times.

· Whilst sales focus and excellent service are essential, the focus of the role will be on providing office-based service to a larger portfolio of customers and visiting customers will be by exception

· Growing sales, through promoting and selling a range of Bank Product offerings and solutions that meet the financial need of SMEs. Providing Good Customer service Quality and Efficiency, through providing a central service point for a portfolio of SME customers.

· Interacting with Clients and conducting needs analysis to assist clients to better understand their financial requirements.

· To achieve challenging sales and service targets to include business development and community profile activity.

· Lending Support, by explaining credit loan facility options and qualifying criteria to customers, as well as in the completion of credit applications.

· Responsible for the origination of the customers credit applications through the end to end processes.

· Responsible for providing customers with essential information and advice, enabling them to achieve their business and personal objectives by offering time saving and added value solutions and service.

· Proactively identify and respond to servicing opportunities for own portfolio of customers, seeking to exceed agreed minimum service standards.

· Successfully manage the resolution of all non-routine queries and complaints for own portfolio of customers.

· Primary responsibility for the management of own portfolio of customers ensuring that they receive the appropriate level of service and advice to meet their specified needs.

· Work with specialists like Trade Finance and Treasury to maximize sale of these products to customers to improve cross selling.

· Maintain a high standard of operational control including adherence to Risk Management guidelines, KYC procedures and other bank policies

· Build and maintain close links with the SME Banking Relationship Managers to identify candidates from within own portfolio to move across to RMs on a regular basis.

· Developing the external market and community profile needed to maximise the local marketing opportunity

· Identify community initiatives to become involved in and support as part of Absa community initiatives (such as Make a Difference Day, Local community initiative, Financial Literacy)

Education

Bachelors Degree and Professional Qualifications: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
