Position Overview

SemiAnalysis is the leading independent research firm at the intersection of semiconductors and artificial intelligence. Our Core Research institutional offering supports hedge funds, long-only asset managers, venture investors, and corporate strategy teams in understanding how technological developments affect company fundamentals.

We are expanding this flagship product and are seeking an Analyst who can translate deep technical insights into clear, actionable financial analysis for institutional clients. The role combines semiconductor and AI industry research, financial modelling, company analysis, and client engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Translate proprietary technical research from the SemiAnalysis team into quantitative and qualitative assessments of company revenue, margins, total addressable markets, and competitive positioning.

  • Publish concise, data-rich research notes covering the most consequential developments across semiconductors and artificial intelligence, including a recurring weekly note.

  • Monitor earnings calls, sell-side conferences, regulatory filings, product launches, and other industry events.

  • Identify and communicate important company catalysts and market developments internally and to clients in near real time.

  • Build bottom-up financial and industry models using company disclosures, proprietary data, and industry research.

  • Partner with technical researchers to develop new research angles, analytical models, and thematic investment frameworks.

  • Engage with investor-relations teams, company executives, and industry participants to strengthen company-specific and ecosystem-level research.

  • Support institutional clients through calls and the SemiAnalysis support portal by providing timely, insightful, and well-researched responses.

  • Manage multiple research priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and analytical rigor.

Requirements

  • 1–5 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, strategy consulting, or a semiconductor industry role involving significant financial-modelling exposure.

  • Working understanding of semiconductor and AI hardware value chains.

  • Strong interest in developing deeper knowledge of chip architectures, semiconductor manufacturing, supply chains, and AI infrastructure.

  • Demonstrated ability to build bottom-up financial models using limited or incomplete company disclosures.

  • Ability to develop, explain, and defend assumptions with analytical rigor.

  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, persuasive, and data-supported research.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving news environment and manage several deadlines without compromising accuracy.

  • Collaborative working style and willingness to brainstorm, challenge ideas, and develop research alongside technical and commercial colleagues.

  • Confidence communicating research findings to institutional clients and internal stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience covering semiconductor, AI infrastructure, hardware, or technology companies.

  • Familiarity with public-company financial statements, earnings materials, regulatory filings, and investor-relations communications.

  • Experience analyzing revenue drivers, gross margins, operating leverage, market share, and competitive positioning.

  • Ability to connect technical developments with their financial and investment implications.

  • Experience developing market-sizing models, industry forecasts, or company-specific operating models.

  • Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, chip architectures, memory, advanced packaging, data-center infrastructure, or AI accelerators.

  • Experience producing investment research, thematic reports, company notes, or client-facing publications.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify important information within large volumes of technical and financial material.

  • Comfort engaging with company executives, investor-relations teams, investors, and other industry participants.
