About this role

This role sits within Preqin, a part of BlackRock. Preqin plays a key role in how we are revolutionizing private markets data and technology for clients globally, complementing our existing Aladdin technology platform to deliver investment solutions for the whole portfolio.

The Research Associate is responsible for researching, maintaining, and enhancing investor and firm data across private markets. Associates own the end-to-end data lifecycle, leveraging public and proprietary research techniques to collect, validate, and curate information used by clients globally. They serve as key contacts within their coverage universe, building relationships with institutional investors and industry professionals while ensuring the highest levels of data quality and operational excellence. In the data management framework, a Research Associate serves as a Data Custodian, reporting to the domain's designated Data Steward.

Functional:

  • Conduct research using public filings, company materials, websites, industry publications, and proprietary outreach to collect and validate investor data.

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with institutional investors and key industry contacts through phone, email, and other approved communication channels to gather proprietary information.

  • Identify opportunities to expand coverage, improve profile completeness, and capture emerging market intelligence.

  • Utilize AI-enabled research and productivity tools in accordance with company policies to improve research efficiency, data discovery and workflow effectiveness

  • Support cross-functional projects and initiatives involving Data Quality, Product, Client Success, and Research teams.

  • Contribute to operational excellence initiatives, workflow improvements, and process enhancement projects.

  • Support onboarding, training, and knowledge-sharing activities across the team.

Data Management:

  • Create, update, validate, and maintain investor, firm, relationship, and contact data within Preqin systems.

  • Implement data updates and resolve data quality incidents as triaged by a Data Steward.

  • Perform quality assurance reviews on existing data and research outputs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

  • Investigate data anomalies and recommend corrective actions where appropriate.

  • Maintain documentation and adhere to established data governance standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Utilize workflow management tools and reporting systems to manage research activity and prioritize work effectively.

What you'll bring to us:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • 3+ years of experience and knowledge of alternative asset market is preferred.

  • Strong research and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage with senior industry professionals.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.

  • Curiosity and interest in financial markets, institutional investors, and alternative assets.

  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of data quality and operational excellence.

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$110,000.00 - USD$140,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model
