The primary role is manager selection responsibilities covering mutual funds, but can include alts. Expected to participate on portfolio construction discussions as well as day-to-day monitoring and reporting of all relevant products. Applying investment knowledge towards the manager selection role vis-a-vis a rigorous due diligence process. This can (in the future) be applicable across the three major product verticals of traditional, hedge funds (alts), and privates. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Primary focus on delivering the due diligence goals of onboarding mutual funds

• Covers all regions and asset classes for traditional long-only

• Potential to expand coverage into alternatives

• Contribution to the ongoing development of analytical as well as qualitative processes relevant to the above

• Maintain general knowledge of markets, both macro (top-down market, economic, industry) and micro (fund/strategy specific)

• Must be capable of producing materials for both internal and commercial use, i.e., investment memos and analysis

• Expected to present new ideas, investment cases as well as seek out new opportunities

• Oral as well as written presentations

• Develop relationships with external partners and take ownership of those relationships

• Requires ongoing interactions to be apprised of latest updates from managers as well as broad industry

• Liaise with other business areas, i.e., risk, compliance, legal, operations, commercial (Private Bank)

• Responsibility is owned by the individual as continuous and ongoing

• Act as direct representative of the FOF team internally and externally exhibiting high degrees of expertise and professionalism


QUALIFICATIONS

o BA in economics, business or quantitative discipline preferred, but not required

o 3 to 5 years of experience in asset management, fund of funds, or family-office

o Proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly MS Excel

o Programming in SQL and Python a plus

o Knowledge of statistical and factor analysis a plus

o Knowledge with Morningstar preferred

o Excellent verbal communication and written skills

o Must be able to self-organize but can work collaboratively within a team/group environment

o English fluency; Portuguese & Spanish fluency a plus

o Must be able to present in office (not a remote role)
