Job Title: Research Intern
Location: New York City and/or Remote

About Inversion:

Inversion Labs is a technology company that develops cutting-edge products and services to enable blockchain-driven business model transformations of legacy businesses. We pursue targeted acquisitions that leverage our blockchain technology to fundamentally transform business models, drive significant cost reductions, and achieve industry-leading profitability all while maintaining operational continuity in core business functions.

By strategically combining decentralized systems with our disciplined acquisition methodology, we disrupt traditional industries and build scalable, high-growth, and profitable businesses.

We are backed by top-tier investors in crypto and tech. Our team brings deep experience from leading financial institutions and a decade of investing in crypto and technology.

We’re at an inflection point where crypto is no longer just experimental; it’s actionable. At Inversion, you'll be a pioneer in shaping how blockchain is used to create meaningful impact across industries and proving to the world that, like the Internet, crypto is a technology that most businesses will adopt to remain competitive.

Position Overview: The Research Intern will support our research and execution efforts at the intersection of blockchain infrastructure, protocol strategy, and real-world business transformation. This role is designed for someone who can move comfortably between crypto-native research and applied sector analysis, and who enjoys turning complex, fragmented information into clear, decision-ready insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track, map, and maintain crypto ecosystem landscapes, including L1s/L2s, stablecoins, data infrastructure, DePIN, wallets, identity, and compliance tooling

  • Build and maintain internal trackers covering crypto infrastructure providers, vendors, ecosystem partners, and sector-specific tooling

  • Maintain an external research library and convert third-party research into clear internal “house views”

  • Produce concise research briefs to support protocol roadmap discussions, infrastructure decisions, and partner selection

  • Support RFP preparation, vendor comparisons, and response evaluation through structured analysis and comparison frameworks

  • Conduct research on traditional industries relevant to our investment and transformation thesis, including value chains, unit economics, and operational constraints

  • Maintain sector-level trackers capturing regulatory, economic, and adoption considerations

  • Support the preparation of transformation decks, research memos, and advisory materials for internal and external stakeholders

  • Provide research and operational support for 180-day blockchain pilots, including tracking hypotheses, milestones, assumptions, and outputs

  • Synthesize large and complex research sets into clear, decision-ready summaries for investment committee and advisory use

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate or MBA students

  • Strong research, synthesis, and analytical skills with high attention to signal over noise

  • Clear, structured writing and comfort presenting conclusions, not just data

  • Intellectual curiosity and comfort forming independent points of view

  • Ability to operate across technical, economic, and business contexts

  • Academic background in economics, computer science, engineering, finance, policy, or a related field

  • Demonstrated interest in blockchain, crypto infrastructure, or emerging technology ecosystems

International Students & Visa Holders

We welcome international students with valid U.S. work authorization, including CPT through an accredited university, and candidates must be able to obtain and maintain authorization for the full duration of the internship.

Compensation:

Interns will be paid at a rate of $1000/week. The role offers meaningful hands-on experience working directly with senior researchers, investors, and operators at the intersection of blockchain infrastructure and real-world business transformation.
