Job Purpose

The Field Marketing Specialist is responsible for generating qualified sales opportunities through direct-to-door neighborhood engagement and local field marketing activities. This role serves as the first point of contact with prospective customers by educating homeowners about Groundworks' services, identifying customer needs, and scheduling appointments for the sales team. Success is measured by the quality and volume of quoted opportunities generated while representing the company professionally and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct neighborhood canvassing and direct-to-door marketing activities within assigned territories.

  • Engage homeowners in professional, customer-focused conversations regarding Groundworks' services.

  • Generate qualified leads and schedule appointments for sales representatives.

  • Accurately document customer interactions and appointments using company systems and mobile applications.

  • Meet or exceed established goals for quoted opportunities and other performance metrics.

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of Groundworks' products, services, and value proposition.

  • Participate in team meetings, coaching sessions, and ongoing training.

  • Represent the Groundworks brand in a professional manner at all times.

  • Comply with company policies, safety procedures, and applicable labor laws.

  • Travel throughout the assigned branch territory as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • It is an essential function of this role that each person regularly and reliably report to work each working day.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience

  • Previous customer service, retail, hospitality, field marketing, canvassing, or sales experience preferred.

  • Experience working independently while meeting performance goals is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Comfortable initiating conversations with homeowners.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Basic proficiency with smartphones, tablets, and company software applications.

  • Ability to learn company products, services, and sales processes.

  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license may be required depending on territory.

Working Conditions

This position is performed primarily in outdoor residential neighborhoods and requires regular travel throughout the assigned branch service area. Employees spend the majority of their workday walking between homes and interacting with homeowners in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, humidity, and other seasonal elements. Work schedules may include evenings and weekends based on business needs, community events, and homeowner availability. The role requires the ability to work independently in the field while maintaining regular communication with management and adhering to company safety policies and procedures.
 

Physical Requirements

The Field Marketing Specialist must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday, frequently covering several miles while canvassing assigned neighborhoods. The position requires the ability to navigate stairs, sidewalks, driveways, and uneven terrain safely. Employees must be able to lift, carry, and transport marketing materials weighing up to 25 pounds and frequently perform activities such as reaching, bending, kneeling, and using hands and fingers to operate mobile devices and distribute promotional materials. The role also requires clear verbal communication with homeowners and the ability to safely perform essential job duties in an outdoor environment under a variety of weather conditions.
