The Sales Executive Strategy & Growth, Health Plans is primarily responsible for generating revenue and developing new business through a consultative selling process with one large health plan. The Sales Executive is a big picture thinker that develops and executes strategic plans for approaching and selling to employers, labor unions, public entities directly and through broker and consultant channel partner relationships. The role is responsible for designing and selling solutions to meet pharmacy benefit goals of plan sponsors and to meet the health plan annual growth goals.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Sell Optum Rx pharmacy services with existing Health Plan clients
  • Pursue or generate leads for new product and pharmacy service opportunities to new or existing clients within health plan segment
  • Ensure expansion of existing health plan clients' pharmacy revenue base
  • Identify and lead sales/expansion activities including management and delivery of timely and accurate sales pipeline forecasting for opportunities within existing health plan clients
  • Individual growth quota to expand and ensure delivery of Optum's solutions within the assigned product or solutions set
  • Frequently collaborate with other sales executives (CE, BD, CM) or works independently to sell and/or manage pharmacy sales opportunities or solutions spanning Optum's portfolio
  • Initiates lead generation activities and conducts sales calls
  • Manage complex sales, underwriting and RFP process
  • Explore new and innovative opportunities and market approach to drive growth
  • Cultivate and deepen C-suite and/or complex client relationships
  • Develop consultative relationships and be a trusted advisor to the client to demonstrate how Optum can provide value for the client to meet their objectives and improve the health system
  • Communicate and present effectively at multiple audiences and levels (listening, written and verbal communication)
  • Collaborate and coordinate work with other departments within the business unit, and many matrix partners within the company, including but not limited to Finance, Underwriting, Product and Marketing
  • Enhance the client experience and overall client satisfaction, maintaining and improving Net Promoter Scores (NPS)
  • Ability to work independently as a strong team player with minimal supervision in a high-paced, high intensity environment
  • Majority of time is spent out of the office with clients, generally 70% or greater

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in sales, account management and/or consulting experience
  • 5+ years of proven experience and expertise in the healthcare, insurance and/or related industry (ex consulting, wellness, technology, financial services, pharmacy, etc)
  • Experience building and managing strategic client relationships and sales (of specific solution set/product) in/to the (ex Payer, Provider, Employer, Government, etc) market
  • Proven track record for achieving target revenue and/or sales goals
  • Deep understanding of sales process and ability navigate and manage complex sales, and RFP process to facilitate and remove roadblocks (for sales/client executives) to close sales
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated success in accessing and influencing senior level and/or C-Suite clients, sophisticated customers, channels, consultants, and/or business partners in a highly matrixed organization
  • Willing or ability to travel up to 50% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience utilizing AI tools, ie CoPilot
  • Experience in executive client presentations
  • PBM experience
  • Proficiency in CRM tools (ex Salesforce) and sales methodology

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $75,000 to $160,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
