The Betterfin growth team is looking for a new Business Development Sssociate -- a well-rounded individual skilled at building relationships with potential partners and developing unique, valuable strategies for growth and new business.
Betterfin is building a values-driven, customer-centric financial services company for small businesses. Our mission is to change the way people think about business financing. We accomplish this with a state-of-the art technology platform giving everyday business owners unprecedented access to insight and information. We are a Y-Combinator, VC backed startup (Initialized, Hillsven, Y-Combinator), we have an awesome energy, and are looking for our next great team member.
Initial responsibilities include:
Build working relationships with potential partners, public and private
Close new partners (develop tailored proposals/respond to RFPs, deliver executive-level presentations, negotiate and finalize contracts)
Own the relationship our partners, driving retention and acting as 'voice of the partner' to business and product teams
Work closely with other functions to execute on deliverables
Build and improve sales materials and case studies
Lead special projects and partnerships with other stakeholders (e.g., nonprofits, channel partners, etc.)
Most Important** - Track, report, and organize the BD effort with systems and reporting.
Qualifications
1+ years experience in business development, sales, partnerships, or other client-facing role; title commensurate with experience
Solid understanding of commercial lending industry (or interest in learning it!)
Excellent written and oral communication skills with senior-level clients
Excellent relationship-builder with customer service orientation
Analytical and able to independently conduct sizing / revenue / cost analyses; comfortable with Excel
Interest in building a business with a strong social mission at the intersection of private and public sectors
Willing to work in Brooklyn, New York and unrestricted work authorization in the US
Experience working with State and Government agencies is a huge plus!

This is a full-time position with excellent benefits, including flexible work hours, 401k, and full health/vision/dental insurance. Compensation is competitive and will include salary, commission/bonus and equity. Our dog-friendly office is based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
