Customer Success Manager
Teachable’s mission is to “empower Creators to monetize their expertise.” Our online platform enables individuals and small businesses (our “Creators”) to build, host and sell online courses and coaching. (Examples of our Creators and their offerings can be found here, here and here.) We generate revenue in two ways: (1) from monthly or annual subscription fees (SaaS) paid to us by our Creators for access to the platform; and (2) from transaction fees calculated as a percent of the value of courses and services sold by Creators through our platform. We currently support over 40,000 Creators who have collectively sold over $1 billion in courses and coaching on Teachable.
Our Customer Success team works to grow the number of successful creators on Teachable. We are looking for a Customer Success Manager to partner with our established accounts to develop deep relationships and strategies to increase their earning power. This is a critical role at Teachable, where you will develop and execute tactics and processes that will retain and grow net Teachable revenue and increase retention amongst our creators.
You would be responsible for partnering with our established creators to provide strategic and supportive guidance in expanding their business opportunities on the Teachable platform, build loyalty to ensure long-term creator retention, and present product guidance as well as ensure they're receiving the tools and support needed to achieve their goals. This is a critical role at Teachable, where you will become an advocate and voice for our customers, helping to grow, engage and retain this important cohort.
This role reports into our Director of Customer Success.
Responsibilities:
- Own a book of business, and develop a trusted relationship with established creators where your expertise about the Teachable product and industry knowledge are sought after, ultimately increasing creator retention and loyalty
- Build relationships with assigned customers, help them with platform issues and needs, and continually delight them with a positive, customer-centric attitude.
- Work with customers to ensure they are leveraging Teachable effectively and finding value in our features
- Become an expert in Teachable and educate customers on the use and benefits of our products, identifying opportunities for creators to expand their offerings and use more features that will improve the quality of the creator’s end product, ultimately improving the creator’s student experience, and increasing the creator’s GMV.
- Partner with creators to create custom deals, solutions and incentives for them to further expand their usage of the platform.
- Help improve product adoption and development by rolling out changes to our highest value creators, and collecting feedback on our current product and services.
- Develop and share best practices with team members to continually improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of our processes.
- Experiment with new tactics and strategies to improve the team’s process and outcomes, and iterate and adapt as we grow.
- Act as a creator advocate and expert, offering deep and first hand understanding of their experience in working with our product and services for our internal teams.
Requirements:
- 2-4 years in a Customer Success, Account Management, or equivalent, role for a SaaS business
- Excellent communication skills, strong technical aptitude, and comfortable in a sales environment (relationship management)
- Exceptional customer focus with a record of working with sizeable account lists in a post-sales/customer retention environment
- Experience growing a book of business and consistently meeting or exceeding revenue targets associated with the book of business
- Experience working with internal stakeholders across multiple departments to find creative solutions and/or advocate for your client
- Demonstrated ability and desire to work and excel in fast-paced environmentInherent sales and marketing skills as well as a deep interest in the online and creator economy.
- A strong understanding about what makes an online business succeed as well as which tools and platforms creators are using will be necessary in order to help our customers experience impactful moments as quickly as possible.
- Collaborative, solutions oriented, and comfortable with operating in an ambiguous environment and high growth business
