SDET Quality Assurance Specialist with Automation (Hybrid - Flexible Options)

Broadridge is looking for an experienced SDET Quality Assurance Specialist with Automation to develop and manage testing initiatives across multiple projects, ensuring high-quality software delivery in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Work Mode: We are made up of highly performing teams that meet in person to learn and collaborate as needed. This role is considered hybrid, which means you’ll be coming into the Edgewood, NY or Newark, New Jersey office 2 days a week and given the flexibility to work remotely the rest of the time.
Key Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain in-sprint test automation aligned to Agile development cycles, ensuring new features are validated in parallel with development.
- Design, develop, and enhance automated test scripts, reusable framework components, and test suites for functional, integration, regression, API, smoke, and end-to-end testing, including mainframe COBOL-based applications.
- Execute automated and manual tests as needed, performing detailed failure analysis and root cause investigations.
- Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and DevOps teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Spinnaker, GitHub Actions, or GitLab.
- Drive continuous improvement of automation frameworks, tools, and processes to increase test coverage, stability, and execution efficiency.
- Support manual and exploratory testing efforts as automation scope expands.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies to ensure alignment of test deliverables with sprint goals and acceptance criteria.
- Diagnose, document, and communicate defects and quality issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Uphold quality organization standards, coding best practices, and share knowledge across teams.
- Use AI‑enabled tools such as GitHub Copilot to assist in test code generation, refactoring, and documentation while adhering to Broadridge’s best practices for responsible AI usage.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent industry experience.
- 3+ years of experience as a software developer, QA engineer, or SDET, including hands‑on experience with automated testing for mainframe systems.
- Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages such as Java, Python, or C#; familiarity with VBScript, HTML, or SQL is a plus
- Experience developing test utilities or internal tools using Java, Python, or scripting languages
- Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, Swagger, SoapUI) for validating RESTful services (JSON/XML).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Spinnaker, Bamboo) and integrating tests within build pipelines.
- Proficiency with Git or other version control and collaborative development tools.
- Advanced automation framework experience using Serenity/Selenium or Playwright, including building extensible frameworks, applying descriptive programming, and integrating API or‑driven tests.
- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA and Xray plugins).
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, Agile methodologies, QA concepts, and shift-left testing practices.
- Ability to design, implement, and execute test cases and work with established testing processes, tools, and technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and skills for diagnosing complex issues across environments.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills within cross‑functional Agile teams.
- Proficient in using AI assisted coding and testing tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to increase development velocity and enhance test reliability.
- Knowledge of automated security testing practices and shift-left principles.
- Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with mainframe modernization initiatives is a plus
- ISTQB certification is a plus.

Salary Range: 95,000.00 – 100,000.00 USD annual
