This role is based onsite four days per week at our client’s New York office: 725 Fifth Avenue, 22nd Floor, New York, NY 10022.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as liaison with ACA reviewing monthly financial packages and reconciliations, FOCUS reports, net capital computations to ensure deadlines and regulatory filings are met.

  • Lead and oversee the end-to-end preparation, review, and submission of all SEC filings, including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, and other required disclosures.

  • Lead the quarterly review and annual audit process in collaboration with external auditors.

  • Maintain monthly checklists and provide strategic direction and mentorship to accounting staff, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency in all reporting deliverables.

  • Provide the monthly reporting package, including complete reconciliations, to auditors within the planned deadlines

  • Partner with executive leadership to advise on the financial reporting implications of transactions, new standards, and significant business developments.

  • Serve as the firm’s primary expert on US GAAP, SEC regulations, PCAOB standards, and evolving regulatory guidance.

  • Lead complex technical research, draft technical memos, and develop firmwide accounting guidance.

  • Direct the preparation and review of stock-based compensation calculations, valuation considerations, and related financial statement impacts.

  • Oversee the design, execution, and monitoring of internal controls in alignment with SOX requirements, partnering closely with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Manage relationships with external auditors, legal counsel, and professional service providers to ensure seamless coordination during quarterly and annual reporting cycles.

  • Own the monthly and quarterly reporting calendar, ensuring milestones are met and issues are proactively addressed.

  • Elevate and maintain robust accounting reconciliations, close processes, and supporting documentation.

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures, and best practices across the function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, or technical accounting.

  • Deep and advanced knowledge of:

    • US GAAP

    • SEC reporting requirements

    • Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance

    • Internal controls design and execution

  • Proven experience leading and reviewing complex financial reporting deliverables.

  • Proficiency with financial reporting software and ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite); familiarity with QuickBooks is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation strongly preferred.

  • Experience with a Big 4 or national public accounting firm.

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience within a public company reporting environment.

Certain states require us to disclose the pay range and benefits summary for job openings. The compensation range for this position: $155,200 – $182,600. Compensation may vary based on skills, role, and location. Eligible employees at certain levels can participate in a discretionary long-term financial incentive plan, subject to plan participation rules.
