About the Role
We’re looking for a Semi-Senior Software Engineer to join our fintech engineering team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of key projects, contribute to the design and development of scalable systems, and help shape the architecture of our core financial infrastructure. You’ll work closely with product and engineering teams to build services that power payment processing, risk controls, and transaction flows—all while deepening your expertise in Python and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
This is a great opportunity for an engineer who’s moved beyond the junior stage and is ready to take on more technical responsibility while continuing to learn and grow.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services using Python
- Contribute to architecture decisions and help scale payment and financial systems
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable code with a focus on performance and reliability
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with a mindset for long-term improvement
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define and deliver solutions
- Use GCP services (e.g., Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Firestore, BigQuery) to build cloud-native solutions
- Participate in improving CI/CD pipelines, observability, and dev tooling
Requirements
- 2–5 years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in Python and backend development fundamentals
- Experience working with RESTful APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
- Understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and fault tolerance
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, problem-solving mindset
- These are the applicable requisites, although equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered
Technology Stack:
We are technology agnostic and value candidates with diverse backgrounds. While familiarity with the following is helpful, your willingness to learn and adapt is paramount:
- Front-end: React, HTTP, HTML/DOM, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX
- Back-end: Python, Flask/FastAPI, REST APIs, Redis, SQL, gRPC
- Cloud: Google Cloud services (Firestore, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Google Artifact Registry, Cloud Run, BigQuery, Cloud Composer, etc.)
- Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Terraform, NewRelic, PagerDuty
