As a Senior Account Lead & Digital Strategist at Interactive Strategies, you'll lead website experiences for mission-driven organizations making a true impact in the world. You'll partner with some of the largest and most influential nonprofits and associations in the country, organizations advancing health, serving veterans, protecting wildlife, and preserving our planet.

You'll own a portfolio of client relationships and act as the strategic lead for each client's website. You'll bring the big idea and guide the client through every strategic decision it takes to bring it to life, in partnership with the project manager. On a new website build, you're responsible for leading discovery research and developing the information architecture. After launch, you're a client's digital guide for ongoing improvements, including how AI is changing the way their audiences find and use their site.

This role is built for people whose experience centers on website redesigns, UX, and ongoing site management. If you're energized by both the strategy and the client relationship, we'd love to meet you.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Leadership & client relationships

  • Own a portfolio of client relationships as the trusted strategic partner for senior stakeholders, grounded in each client's goals, pressures, and organizational dynamics.
  • Educate clients on UX, accessibility, and website best practices, and guide them through tradeoffs on scope, priorities, budget, and timing.
  • Grow each account with recommendations grounded in data and user needs, and contribute to new business through pitch narratives, proposals, and presentations.

Website strategy & ownership

  • Lead discovery for website redesigns and new initiatives, and turn the research into strategy recommendations, roadmaps, personas, user journeys, sitemaps, IA, and UX direction.
  • Own the strategic direction of each client website by defining and prioritizing requirements, clarifying decisions for internal team, and managing change requests alongside the project manager.
  • Shape AI experiences around the website visitor, from AI-powered search and chat to how a client's content shows up in AI answers.
  • Partner with clients after launch, using analytics and user feedback to plan ongoing improvements.

Collaboration & team leadership

  • Work hand in hand with teams like Project Management, Design, Content Strategy, Data Insights, Development, and lead the team through ambiguity by setting direction and clarifying decisions.
  • Use AI to change how we work, taking on analysis, research synthesis, and prototyping at a scale and speed that wasn't possible before, and share what you learn with the team.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience & expertise

  • 7 to 10+ years of experience in website strategy, UX strategy, or digital experience strategy; digital agency experience strongly preferred.
  • A track record of leading website redesigns or major site initiatives from discovery through launch.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain senior client relationships in an agency or consulting environment.
  • Strong command of UX, information architecture, and site optimization, plus experience with CMS platforms such as Drupal, WordPress, Payload or Sitecore.
  • Sound strategic judgment, with the confidence and persuasion to tell clients what they need to hear and bring them on board.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, written, verbal, and visual.
  • Everyday, hands-on use of AI in your own work, and a point of view on how AI is changing website experiences for visitors.

Mindset & approach

This matters to us as much as your resume.

  • Relationship-driven. You invest in people as much as projects.
  • A natural teacher who enjoys helping clients understand the why behind a recommendation.
  • Naturally curious and energized by figuring out what new tools make possible.
  • Grounded, values-driven, and able to build trust quickly.

Nice to have

  • Experience with association or nonprofit websites, including member, donor, or AMS integrations.
  • Experience leading website retainers or continuous improvement programs.
  • Experience with search and AI visibility (SEO and GEO).
  • Experience managing or mentoring strategists or account team members.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

You'll step into an active portfolio of client relationships and make them your own. Here's how your 40-hour work week will break down.

  • 70% billable client work. Website strategy, discovery, IA and UX direction, strategic leadership on active builds and retainers, and account planning.
  • 15% new business. Proposals, pitch strategy, and presentations with prospective clients. Development of new ideas for existing clients.
  • 15% internal. Improving our tools and approaches, sharing insights across the team, and mentoring.

In your first year, success looks like this.

  • Your clients see you as their go-to website advisor and bring decisions to you early.
  • Each account has a clear roadmap you own, and your recommendations have grown the scope of work.
  • Delivery teams build from your IA, requirements, and roadmaps with confidence and fewer rounds of rework.
