Job Description
Title: Senior Inventory Accountant
Reports to: Senior Manager, Inventory Accounting
Overview
The Senior Inventory Accountant will be an integral member of the Inventory Accounting Team and he/she will have responsibilities that ensure our inventory (primarily Jewelry) is properly costed, transacted and reconciled across all distribution channels, including retail, wholesale and e-commerce. He/She will promote maximum fiscal responsibility, safeguard the Company’s assets and ensure compliance with established accounting standards
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participate in the Month End General Ledger close by conducting monthly reconciliations related to Inventory valuation, Cost Accounting and monthly inventory on-hand and recording required journal entries.
- Support the annual physical inventory counts, collaborate with NY/NJ and Retail Store Operational teams with preparation, execution, and reporting of the final results for Senior Management and external auditors.
- Partner with the NY and NJ warehouse teams to ensure inventory is appropriately valued and transacted, entering adjustments as needed.
- On a monthly basis, validate inventory movements across warehouse and retail channels including store receipts, transfers, returns, cycle counts and other adjustments.
- Develop and document business and accounting policies related to inventory.
- Assist with inventory related information for support for year-end bank reviews and financial audits, including preparation of audit work papers and providing supporting documentation as requested.
- Assist the Senior Manager, Inventory Accounting and other Senior Inventory Accountant in the monthly reconciliation of Raw Gold Inventory GL Account with vendors and internal FP&A and Product Engineering teams.
- Assist the other Senior Inventory Accountant with the Monthly Scrap and Gifting/Donation Write off processes.
- Coordinate with the Senior Manager, Inventory Accounting on various ad-hoc projects.
Essential Qualifications:
- BS in Accounting required
- Minimum 2 years+ of accounting and operations experience required
- Experience in Inventory/Cost Accounting in a retail environment required. Warehouse experience is a plus.
- Highly organized. Maintains the highest standards of accuracy and precision.
- Articulate with strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Collaborative team player with a hands-on approach; a roll up the sleeves mentality
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and GL/Inventory ERP Systems; Oracle experience is a plus
Location: New York, NY (hybrid Monday-Friday)
Estimated Base Salary: $85,000-100,000
Base pay is one component of David Yurman’s total compensation package, which may also include the following for eligible employees: access to healthcare benefits, 401(k) plan, bonus, employee discounts, Summer Fridays (corporate roles), generous paid time off, sick time, and more.
