Aladdin Portfolio Management Engineering is a global team of passionate product engineers who are on a mission to build out a next generation platform of persona based, workflow driven experience with a horizontally scalable & modular architecture.

Responsibilities:

  • Hands-On Technical Leadership - actively contributing Technical Design Deployment Readiness Reviews, Core Reviews and the whole PDLC. 
  • Accelerate productivity with an AI-enabled PDLC with a strong focus on quality & resiliency.
  • Provide operational excellence to our clients with production support with an “SRE” mindset. 
  • Influence and mentor other engineers in the team, raising the bar on technical excellence. 
  • Collaborate in a global, multi-office environment, aligning teams across geographies around shared architectural vision.
  • Champion a strong engineering culture grounded in continuous learning and optimizing to best practices such as DORA.
  • Build domain and technical context quickly and translate that into specifications, plans and actionable Agile backlogs. 

Qualifications:

  • B.S. / M.S. degree in a STEM field such as Computer Science or Engineering
  • 8+ years of proven experience

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience operating as a Solution Architect, Senior Engineer or Team Lead, defining and owning technical direction across initiatives with Agile Practices such as Lean or Scaled Agile.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a work definer at scale: shaping ambiguous problem spaces into well structured initiatives, clear architectural runways, and executable delivery plans. 
  • Strong background designing enterprise scale, distributed systems, balancing functional requirements with non-functional concerns such as resiliency, scalability, latency, and operability. 
  • Hands on experience with AI enabled SDLC / PDLC practices, including:
  • Using AI to accelerate design exploration, prototyping, and architectural decision making
  • Applying AI assisted development, testing, code review, and documentation practices
  • Embedding AI capabilities into product workflows and platform services responsibly and securely
  • Frameworks such as Windsurf & Cursor and GitHub Copilot
  • Ability to partner effectively with Product Management, Engineering, and Business leaders to translate strategic objectives into coherent architectural strategies. 
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to articulate complex architectural concepts to senior stakeholders and align diverse teams behind a shared technical vision.
  • Track record at articulating architectural tradeoffs and design options, including impacts on scalability, resilience, cost, and delivery velocity.
  • Strong architectural governance skills: setting standards, guiding design reviews, managing technical debt, and ensuring long term platform sustainability. 
  • A proven foundation in modern languages such Core Java and UI technologies such as React & Angular. 
  • Experience of API design principles & Event Driven Architecture. 
  • Rigorous approach to quality through demonstrable TDD & BDD experience. 

Nice to have and opportunities to learn:

  • Expertise in Domain Driven Design (DDD), including domain modelling and aligning architecture to complex business domains.
  • Front office Portfolio Management or Wealth Management domain experience, with a strong understanding of investment workflows, decision making processes, and the role of technology in supporting portfolio managers and advisors. 
  • Domain knowledge of asset classes & analytics (e.g., equities, fixed income, multi asset, alternatives) and how their characteristics influence risk, performance, liquidity, and system design. 
  • Experience with portfolio construction concepts, including asset allocation, constraints, benchmarks, rebalancing, and optimization, and how these map to scalable platform and architecture decisions.
  • Exposure to event driven architectures at scale, including microservices, messaging, and streaming platforms aligned to business domains. 
  • Experience shaping or contributing to platform strategies that enable multiple product teams to move faster with consistency and autonomy. 
  • Familiarity with cloud native and hybrid architectures, including patterns for scalability, resilience, and cost aware design in large enterprises – including frameworks like Kubernetes. 
  • Exposure to modern DevOps and platform engineering practices that support high throughput, high quality delivery at enterprise scale, and demonstrable improvements across DORA metrics. 
  • Familiarity with micro frontend architectures, including their use in large scale, multi team environments to enable independent domain ownership, parallel delivery, and consistent user experiences across complex platform
     
For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$162,000.00 - USD$215,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model
