The Financial Support Office (FSO) is the Federal Reserve System's trusted partner for financial advice and innovation, serving as a 150-member team that empowers System leaders with real-time data, strategic insights, and industry expertise to enable financially informed decisions. The FSO strengthens financial management across the System by collaborating with key leadership groups including the Conference of Presidents, Conference of First Vice Presidents, and Board of Governors, while leading integrated planning, reporting, and analytics efforts. As an integral System function, the FSO manages financial operations including the Financial Management Shared Services Center (FMSSC) and National Accounting Customer Support (NACS), maintains and enhances financial management applications like Workday and Adaptive, and provides oversight for critical programs such as the Enterprise Accounting System (EASy) and Account Management Information (AMI).
Senior Analyst, FSO FP&A
You will be responsible for conducting financial analysis, reviewing business areas strategic plans and budgets, and monitoring and reporting on performance. This position requires standard knowledge of general accounting and finance, internal Federal Reserve financial and cost accounting, financial management applications, and Bank strategies and operations. This position relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
The position will be primarily on-site with residency commutable to one of our offices required.
Responsibilities:
  • Conducts complex financial analysis on a variety of topics with minimal guidance.
  • Prepares variance explanations and cost benefit analysis.
  • Participates in the development of Bank-wide operating and capital budgets.
  • Reviews business plans and budgets for assigned areas.
  • Provides consultative and analytical support for assigned areas. Summarizes key issues and collaborates with business areas to resolve them.
  • Drafts sections of the Plan and Budget document for management, Board of Governors, and Board of Directors.
  • Prepares financial and business-related analyses and research in such areas as financial and expense performance, and depreciation.
  • Advises business areas in developing budget forecasts.
  • Reviews financial data to ensure compliance with cost accounting rules.
  • Interprets cost accounting rules and determines the impact of accounting changes.
  • Participates in the monthly processing of actual expenses. Institutes financial controls, ensures appropriate documentation, and assesses accuracy of data. Analyzes and reports on historical and projected performance trends.
  • Drafts performance narratives for management and Board of Directors.
  • Provides functional advice or training to less experienced analysts.

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and experience normally acquired through, or equivalent to, the completion of a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field and a minimum of 4 years of job-related experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communications.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Advanced knowledge in financial analysis.

The salary range for this position is $97,800 - 122,300 - 146,800. The Boston Fed believes in salary transparency. The final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, skills, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Whether you're developing into the job or are a more seasoned candidate, we aim to pay competitively. If you reside outside of the 1st District, you may be hired by your local Federal Reserve District and compensation will follow hiring District's range and policy.
