The Subscriber Planning team within DTC Finance is a highly visible team of professionals with backgrounds in consulting, investment banking, private equity, media & entertainment, and technology who serve as in-house advisers to the TWDC’s DTC executive leadership team and own the subscriber, engagement and revenue growth planning functions. The team’s activities and accomplishments have contributed directly to the rapid growth and success of the Disney’s suite of streaming services: Disney+, Hulu and ESPN Unlimited/Select.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Analyst that will play a key role in growing our direct-to-consumer business, with a focus on Content Forecasting. They will help identify some of the business’ key issues and opportunities by providing subscriber transparency and help provide solutions by partnering with cross functional teams to evaluate strategic initiatives. This is inclusive of but not limited to: modeling the impacts of content on subscriber growth, developing and tracking KPI’s to drive execution and operational improvement, preparing go-to-market analyses on future content releases, and more.  They will also be responsible for collaborating closely with stakeholders from content planning, data analytics, strategy, research and operational marketing and scheduling teams.

The right person for this role has phenomenal analytical skills, experience in working with large data sets and building complex financial models, sets a high bar for themselves, and must display initiative in anticipating and exceeding the business demands of the key stakeholders. This role will be data-focused, responsible for sharing business insights, providing strategic recommendations, and influencing key operational decisions. Succeeding in this position will require extensive collaboration across multiple cross functional teams (Content Planning & Analysis, Marketing, Data & Analytics, Business Operations & Reporting, etc.) and effectively utilizing team resources to navigate an ever-changing streaming landscape.

The pace and cadence for change at Disney necessitates an ability to manage multiple projects, collaborate with multiple stakeholders, and roll up sleeves to support this important segment of the Disney business.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Create & manage forecast models for Disney Entertainment content releases and the subsequent impacts on subscriber acquisition and retention

  • Partner with content teams and regional partners throughout Disney to optimize timing of content releases

  • Support strategic ad hoc analysis to highlight KPI trends, opportunities / risks to plan, size new offerings, evaluate new strategic initiatives

  • Maintain a strong understanding of operating performance (e.g. KPIs, subscribers), major deals and transactions, issues and challenges facing the businesses, and relevant trends in the streaming business

  • Develop impactful, compelling presentation materials (decks, notes, write-ups, backup materials, etc.) that effectively communicates subscriber projections, drivers, business performance, and risks & opportunities to leadership

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant finance/strategy experience in media, direct-to-consumer subscription, management/strategy consulting, investment banking or similar fields

  • Excellent communication and PowerPoint skills; ability to distill complex analyses into structured outputs and present to all levels of management

  • Deliverable-focused, strong work ethic, able to prioritize, and resolve an array of issues simultaneously

  • Expert Excel skills; extensive experience building operating models and analyzing large data sets

  • Knowledge and understanding of subscription / DTC KPIs a must

  • Media & Entertainment industry experience a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $118,000.00 to $162,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
