About Landing

Since 2019, Landing has built the largest flexible living network in the country — 35+ markets, thousands of apartments, no deposits, no hassle. We’re a data-driven PropTech company and our BI team is the analytical backbone of the business, powering the metrics, pipelines, and data models that leadership depends on every day to make high-stakes decisions.

About the role

This is a backend, infrastructure-first role. You will own Landing’s dbt models, data pipelines, and warehouse architecture — the connective tissue between raw data and the metrics our Finance, Operations, and Revenue teams run on.

This is not a dashboard role. We care more about thoughtful architecture, business impact, and data quality than dashboards shipped or tickets closed. You’ll inherit meaningful ownership from day one and have direct influence on the architecture, standards, and roadmap of our data ecosystem.

You will work closely with our consulting partners during onboarding to ensure a smooth transition of ownership over our current dbt infrastructure.

What you’ll own

  • Our dbt model library — keeping models clean, tested, documented, and aligned with how the business actually uses data, with a focus on onboarding new data sources and pipelines (Heap, Clarity, GA4, and other web-based metrics).
  • Landing’s ELT stack — including Stitch, Snowflake, dbt, and associated monitoring and orchestration tooling, with a focus on reliability, performance, and lineage clarity.
  • A finance and operations data spine — the authoritative source of truth for our core executive KPIs, metric definitions, and warehouse logic.
  • Analytics engineering standards, tooling decisions, and the long-term roadmap of our data platform.
  • Cross-functional data partnerships with Engineering, FP&A, and Accounting — translating between technical infrastructure and business need in both directions, including working closely with Engineering on new field creation in Admin.
  • Data quality standards, testing frameworks, and metric governance practices across the team.
  • Executive, board, and investor reporting — your work directly supports high-stakes decision-making and fundraising activities.
  • Sprint planning and prioritization for the BI request queue, in collaboration with the BI team and cross-functional stakeholders.

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or Business Intelligence with a strong backend focus.
  • Expert-level dbt — production models at scale, with fluency in testing, documentation, lineage, and model architecture best practices.
  • Strong SQL and deep experience designing data models for analytical use cases.
  • Hands-on Snowflake experience (or comparable cloud warehouse: Redshift, BigQuery, Vertica).
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines — you understand ELT patterns, source system integration, and how to build for reliability.
  • The ability to translate between technical infrastructure and business context — you can sit with FP&A or Accounting, understand what they actually need, and build a model that delivers it.
  • A bias toward documentation, clarity, and ownership — you leave things better than you found them.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and fast-moving priorities — judgment matters here.
  • Strong communication skills — you can explain a data model to an analyst and a pipeline failure to a CFO.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Sigma or Looker for downstream analytics and dashboard development.
  • Familiarity with PropTech, hospitality, or real estate metrics (occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, NRR).
  • Exposure to data governance frameworks and metric layer tooling (e.g. MetricFlow, dbt Semantic Layer).
  • Python or scripting experience for pipeline automation or data quality tooling.
  • Experience in a high-growth, investor-backed company where data integrity directly supports fundraising and board reporting.

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation + stock options
  • Comprehensive benefits — Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and AD&D, Disability, Mental Health, Pet, Commuter, FSA or HSA
  • 401(k) plan and access to ImmediatePay
  • Generous PTO policy
  • Opportunities for upward mobility — we want you to grow with us
  • $750 annually in Landing Stays
