Responsibilities

Oaktree is seeking a Senior Associate / Vice President focused on restructuring.  The candidate will be the second member of a new and dynamic restructuring-focused team within the $[30 billion] Global Private Debt strategy, reporting directly to the Head of Restructuring.  The restructuring team is an integral part of the performing credit investment team at Oaktree and works side-by-side with industry specialists who source, underwrite, and structure new positions.  The candidate will participate in all transaction functions and portfolio management activities related to the strategy’s stressed and distressed credit positions, including:

  • Assisting with complex, multi-party negotiations, including representing Oaktree in meetings with other stakeholders;
  • Monitoring the performance of existing investments with a focus on covenants, liquidity, and financial flexibility;
  • Developing detailed financial models to analyze the impact of potential restructuring transactions;
  • Communicating effectively with outside advisors to advance Oaktree’s strategy;
  • Performing qualitative business and industry due diligence in collaboration with the broader investment team;
  • Participating in underwriting and structuring of new investments to ensure downside protection; and
  • Presenting investment recommendations to portfolio management

Qualifications

  • 2 years of restructuring investment banking analyst experience plus 2-4 years in asset management, direct lending or private equity, ideally focused on credit investments;
  • Experience analyzing and negotiating debt restructuring transactions in a principal capacity;
  • Demonstrated ability to execute independently on multiple projects with limited oversight;
  • Polish/presence to work with senior professional at other firms and senior members of company management; 
  • Working knowledge of restructuring legal framework, including bankruptcy law;
  • Outstanding financial modeling and analytical skills; and
  • Demonstrated competency in financial statement analysis, business valuation, accounting and finance.

Education

Base Salary Range

Senior Associate: $170,000

Vice President: $250,000 - $275,000

In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement.  The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
