Role Overview
We're seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Dynamic Copay team. You'll work on our Dynamic Copay Engine — the core component that powers upfront pricing for health plan members. This is a high-impact role where you'll own critical services from day one, working at the intersection of claims processing and real-time pricing logic.
Team Context
The Dynamic Copay Engine works closely with our Claims Engine team, which owns our claims processing pipeline and adjudication integrations. You'll work closely with the team lead and other engineers to build, scale, and harden the systems that sit at the center of our product.
Responsibilies
- Own the development, testing, and production support of the Dynamic Copay Engine services
- Design and implement pricing logic, rules engines, and configuration systems that power upfront member pricing
- Build and maintain integrations with claims adjudication workflows
- Write performant queries and manage data across PostgreSQL, Redis, and BigQuery
- Collaborate with product and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into reliable, scalable backend services
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and incident response
- Contribute to the on-call rotation for production systems
- 4+ years building, owning, and maintaining backend services
- 2+ years writing Go
- Strong SQL skills, particularly in PostgreSQL
- Experience with Redis and BigQuery (or similar analytical databases)
- Docker/Kubernetes
- Google Cloud Platform
- gRPC/Protobuf experience
- Experience with thorough testing strategies
- Health insurance or claims processing experience
- Terraform/Terraform Cloud
- Python proficiency
- Incident management and response experience
- Startup experience
- Self-directed and comfortable owning a domain end-to-end

The target base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $225,000 and is part of a competitive total rewards package including equity and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by several factors, including experience, skills, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
