The Senior Backend / DevOps Engineer will design and maintain APIs, manage AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and improve observability while contributing to code reviews and architecture discussions.
We’re looking for a Senior Backend / DevOps Engineer to join our engineering team and contribute daily and directly to the development and infrastructure across our projects. You’ll work closely with our existing engineers across our codebase and be involved in taking ownership of both feature development and cloud infrastructure.
Location: Colombia (Medellín preferred), 100% Remote. Working hours are based on the Colombia Time Zone.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs using FastAPI
- Own and improve our AWS cloud infrastructure (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, ECS/EKS, IAM, etc.)
- Manage CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows (GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, or equivalent)
- Collaborate on database design, query optimization, and migrations (PostgreSQL / SQLAlchemy /
DynamoDB) - Write clean, well-tested Python code following best practices
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards
- Monitor system health, respond to incidents, and improve observability (logging, alerting)
- Contribute to architecture decisions and technical planning discussions
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience, primarily in Python
- Strong hands-on experience with FastAPI (or comparable async Python frameworks)
- Deep familiarity with AWS services and infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar
frameworks) - Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, ECS or EKS)
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL and DynamoDB; experience with ORM frameworks (SQLAlchemy 2.0
preferred) - Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken)
- Comfortable working asynchronously and autonomously within a remote-first team
- Experience with ETL pipelines or data engineering workflows
- Familiarity with PostHog, Sentry, or similar observability/analytics tools
