Job Overview
The Senior Benefits Specialist is part of the Human Resources team which is a collaborative group dedicated to supporting every stage of the employee experience. The team includes specialists in payroll, benefits, talent acquisition, people partnering, and HR generalist functions, ensuring seamless operational excellence and strategic support.
The role is responsible for administering and supporting the firm's global compensation and benefits programs to help attract, retain, and motivate top talent. This position partners closely with HR leadership and business leaders to ensure total rewards programs remain competitive, cost‑effective, compliant, and executed with excellence.
This position is based in our Chicago office and requires a min of 3 days per week onsite in office.
Job Responsibilities
  • Manage enrollments, COBRA, claims support, carrier feeds and employee inquiries
  • Administer group benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability and retirement plans
  • Partner with vendors and brokers to ensure service excellence and cost efficiency
  • Lead audits, compliance testing, and benefits reporting-including NDT and annual Form 5500 filings
  • Manage FMLA and other leave‑of‑absence programs in accordance with federal and state requirements
  • Maintain accurate benefits data in HRIS platforms
  • Assist with benefits communications and open enrollment initiatives
  • Conduct new employee benefits orientations and ongoing promotional support
  • Plan, coordinate, and communicate employee wellness initiatives and recognition events
  • Prepare and manage compensation-related employee documentation, including Total Rewards Statements and Compensation Acknowledgement Forms
  • Coordinate and manage the annual compensation and bonus cycle, ensuring accurate data, compliance with deferral schedules and timely delivery of employee compensation
  • Conduct market benchmarking, pay equity analyses and job evaluations to inform compensation decisions and maintain competitive positioning for new roles and current employees
  • Coordinate and take minutes for monthly Compensation and Benefit Committee meetings

Basic Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • Strong working knowledge of ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, and ADA
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables and VLOOKUPs required)
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems, SAP SuccessFactor preferred
  • Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills

Preferred Requirements
  • CEBS, CPP or HR Certification a plus
  • Financial services experience

Annual base salary, not including discretionary bonus eligibility: $85,000-$110,000
