Work Style/ Location: Hybrid (3 days in office), NY or DC

Type: Full-Time

Sector: Data, AI & Analytics

Position Overview

BizFirst is supporting our client in identifying a Data Engineer to join a growing consulting team working across industries, clients, and technologies. This role is best suited for a strong mid-level data engineer who can help translate business needs into practical technical solutions.

We're open to two equally strong profiles: a Data Engineer with external consulting experience, or an internal Data Engineer who has worked directly with business stakeholders such as Marketing, Sales, and Product to define requirements and support the buildout of data platforms and solutions.

Our client is a fast-growing global data and AI consultancy with operations across three continents and 140+ consultants serving 70+ enterprise clients. They've built a consultant-first culture with a proprietary learning academy, paid certifications, and deep partnerships with platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, and Google Cloud. The US office combines the credibility of an established global brand with the energy of a New York startup.

Your Career, Accelerated

You're not just taking a job, you're investing in your growth. You'll work across industries and client engagements that stretch your thinking. You'll have access to proprietary playbooks and toolkits that fast-track your success on projects. And you'll always have a principal consultant who has your back, not just be thrown into the deep end.

What You'll Do

  • Work with clients, internal teams, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into practical technical solutions
  • Help design and deliver modern data platforms, including cloud migrations, data models, and scalable analytics foundations
  • Build and maintain data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration workflows as part of broader platform solutions
  • Contribute to reliable, secure, and cost-effective data environments across cloud ecosystems
  • Partner with analysts, ML engineers, platform teams, and business stakeholders to support reporting, analytics, and AI use cases
Tools & Tech Stack

  • Languages & Frameworks: Python, SQL, Spark
  • Data Platforms: BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar modern platforms
  • Transformation & Ingestion: dbt, Coalesce, Fivetran, Terraform, or similar tools
  • Cloud: GCP; Azure, GCP, AWS

What We're Looking For

We're open to people at different experience levels and career stages. We're on the hunt for people who love solving problems, thinking critically, and staying curious. The right person for this role brings a mix of technical depth, platform adaptability, and the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams:

  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering or modern data platform delivery
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field
  • Strong fundamentals in data modeling, data architecture, and platform migration
  • Hands-on experience with modern data platforms or cloud ecosystems
  • Ability to gather requirements, work directly with clients or internal stakeholders, and translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with stakeholders such as Marketing, Sales, and Product
  • Comfortable building data workflows while also thinking through the broader platform, architecture, and stakeholder picture
  • Ability to balance working independently and being a strong teammate in a fast-moving environment
  • Curiosity and a genuine interest in learning new tools, patterns, and approaches

These aren't requirements, but if any of these describe you, we'd love to hear about it:

  • Experience with data architecture design, governance, or platform modernization
  • Certifications in any of the key platforms or tools, such as SnowPro, dbt, GCP Professional Data Engineer, or Databricks
  • Exposure to ML pipelines, MLOps, or AI-adjacent data engineering

Perks & Benefits

Your work matters, and so do you. Here's what's waiting:

  • Proprietary learning academy with 100+ custom modules
  • Mentoring program with a Senior Support Lead
  • 360-degree progress reviews with real feedback, not fluff
  • Guilds, regular training, and peer learning
  • Paid certifications across all major platforms
  • Hackathons and innovation days
  • Kudos and recognition programs
  • Socials, book clubs, Data & Drinks, and team building days
