Castleton Tower Consulting, LLC
Senior Consultant, Strategy & Client Solutions
The Firm
Castleton Tower is a boutique consulting firm founded by executives who have built and led quantitative research, data science, and technology teams at top-tier hedge funds and asset managers. We work exclusively with investment management firms (RIAs, family offices, hedge funds, and asset allocators) helping them modernize their data infrastructure and build AI-ready foundations.
What makes us different: We're a lean firm where senior practitioners do the actual work. No armies of junior consultants learning on your dime. Our engagements blend high-level strategy with hands-on technical implementation. We'll assess your technical & business strategy, design your data architecture and also code up the full stack infrastructure where needed.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a strategic leader who can drive data and technology transformation for investment firms. This role sits at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution. You'll need to be equally comfortable in a boardroom discussion about portfolio analytics and a working session designing Snowflake schemas.
What you'll get:
Strategic Impact: Lead full-scope projects from roadmap to production, not just strategy decks that sit on a shelf
Direct Mentorship: Work alongside the firm's Principals on every engagement
Modern Tech Stack: Work with best-in-class tools (similar to Snowflake, dbt, Dagster, Sigma, AWS, etc.) and cutting-edge AI/agentic development workflows
Path to Partnership: Clear trajectory toward firm equity and partnership for high performers
Core Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Strategy
Partner with senior investment professionals (PMs, CIOs, COOs, Heads of Operations) to understand their business goals and translate them into actionable technical roadmaps
Own client relationships end-to-end, managing expectations, deepening engagements, and identifying new opportunities
Lead projects from inception to delivery, ensuring the final product solves the actual business problem
Technical Solutioning
Design data architectures and analytics solutions that fit the client's investment workflow
Use Python and SQL to build dashboards, analytics tools, and investment applications
Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery
Guide architectural decisions across modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, cloud infrastructure)
This is not a "heavy" data engineering role, but you need to understand the underlying tools and architectures well enough to recommend optimal approaches and know what's technically feasible.
Qualifications
Required:
Prior experience within an investment management or trading organization (hedge funds, asset managers, quant shops, or market makers)
Demonstrated project leadership and comfort managing relationships with senior executives
Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and application development
Strong conceptual understanding of modern data infrastructure
Valued:
Management consulting experience (strategy or implementation)
Experience at financial technology firms serving asset managers
Familiarity with investment operations, portfolio analytics, or fund accounting workflows
Personal Attributes:
High ownership mentality: you see problems through to resolution without being told
Executive presence to hold your own with senior investment leaders
Intellectual curiosity about both the investment side and the technology side
Comfort with ambiguity and ability to structure unstructured problems
Location & Compensation
Location: Hybrid in the NYC area. Expect to travel roughly one week per month for on-site client work.
Compensation:
Total compensation: $250k to $500k (commensurate with experience)
Firm equity available for high performers
