The Senior Controller of Slot Operations ensures financial integrity and compliance, oversees slot performance analytics, and leads budgeting and forecasting for the casino's slot department.
The Senior Controller of Slot Operations is responsible for the financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and performance optimization of the property’s largest revenue engine. You will oversee the "Slot Accounting" ecosystem, ensuring every "CoinIn" and "Jackpot" is reconciled with surgical precision while providing the strategic analysis necessary to optimize game mix, floor layout, and reinvestment strategies.
Core Responsibilities
1. Financial Governance & Compliance
- NGCB & Title 31 Compliance: Ensure 100% adherence to Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) and federal anti-money laundering (Title 31) regulations.
- Audit & Reconciliation: Oversee the daily "Soft Count" and "Hard Count" reconciliations, investigating all variances between the Slot Management System (SMS) and the physical count.
- Internal Controls: Author and enforce Internal Control Procedures (ICPs) to safeguard casino assets and mitigate the risk of fraud or technical manipulation.
2. Slot Performance Analytics (The "EBITDA Driver")
- Floor Optimization: Analyze Win Per Unit (WPU), Hold Percentage, and Theo vs. Actual data to recommend machine moves, theme changes, and denomination shifts.
- Capital Allocation: Direct the financial modeling for CAPEX requests (new machine purchases, TITO upgrades, and floor renovations) to ensure a targeted 2-year ROI.
- Vendor Management: Analyze the profitability of participation games vs. owned machines, negotiating lease terms to protect the property’s bottom line.
3. Operational Financial Leadership
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process for the Slot Department, managing multi-million dollar labor and maintenance budgets.
- Taxation & Reporting: Prepare and file accurate monthly and quarterly gaming tax returns and financial statements for executive leadership and ownership.
- Inter-Departmental Liaison: Partner with the Marketing/Player Development team to audit "Free Slot Play" (FSP) reinvestment and evaluate the ROI of slot tournaments and promotions.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive financial leadership in a high-volume Las Vegas casino environment.
- Systems Expertise: Mastery of Slot Management Systems (e.g., IGT Advantage, Konami SYNKROS, or Aristocrat Oasis) and advanced BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics. An MBA or CPA is highly preferred for candidates targeting Strip properties.
- Analytical Edge: Ability to translate complex gaming mathematics (PAR sheets, standard deviation) into executive-level strategy.
