We were tired of hearing that healthcare is broken, so we decided to do something about it. At Nomi Health, we believe the care itself isn’t broken — it’s the business of healthcare that gets in the way. Every year, more than $1 trillion is wasted on paperwork, delays, and middle layers that drive up costs and keep people from the care they need.

We’re rebuilding the system so it works the way it should: clear prices you can trust, faster payments that keep providers focused on patients, and data that helps employers make better decisions. Our work has already touched more than 30 million lives — from local communities in Michigan to some of the largest companies in the country.

Nomi Health is seeking an experienced Senior Controller to to join our team. You will lead and oversee all aspects of accounting operations across our business units. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a high-impact leadership role in a fast-paced, regulated environment. You will have the opportunity to scale and refine an accounting function that underpins Nomi’s mission to rebuild healthcare.

Healthcare in America is broken, yet we have the world's best doctors, cutting-edge technology, and spend $5 trillion on it each year and growing. The problem isn’t the care; it’s the business of healthcare destroying the experience.

How you will make an impact

  • Oversee all accounting operations (GL, AP, AR, payroll, consolidations, GAAP reporting) across our business units.
  • Develop and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that meet GAAP, healthcare, and multiple business unit requirements.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close with accuracy and timeliness across multiple business units.
  • Lead consolidations, intercompany transactions, and cost allocations across multiple business units.
  • Support ERP implementations and system upgrades to optimize workflows and enable scalable reporting.
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and readiness for audits, regulatory reviews, and investor diligence.
  • Build and mentor an accounting team with expertise in claims reconciliation, analytics revenue, and trust-banking operations.
  • Serve as the accounting function’s primary leader, aligning financial operations with corporate strategy across all business units.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (Master’s preferred).
  • 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 5+ years leading multi-entity teams.
  • Big 4 experience
  • CPA or CMA strongly preferred
  • Prior controller experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in healthcare networks and financial services preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606 (rev rec), ASC 805 (acquisitions), and healthcare/trust compliance.
  • Proven success scaling accounting operations in high-growth, regulated industries.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across healthcare, technology, and financial services.

Nomi Health delivers disruptive healthcare solutions, in partnership with like-minded employers, public sector organizations, advisors (brokers/consultants), and payers/TPAs. We’re a team of 300+ people who show up every day with the same mindset: don’t settle for “that’s just how it is.” Real change happens when you challenge the system, cut through the excuses, and build something better together.
