The Senior Coordinator, Consumer Products – Licensing & Business Operations plays a critical role in supporting the growth and operational excellence of Major League Soccer’s Consumer Products business. This individual will manage day-to-day licensing operations, product approvals, royalty administration, partner communications, and cross-functional project coordination across key licensing categories and Premium Partners.


The Senior Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for assigned licensees and stakeholders, ensuring products are on-brand, on-time, and commercially optimized. This role requires strong organizational skills, business acumen, and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities while supporting strategic initiatives across licensing, retail, gaming, collectibles, and emerging consumer products.


As MLS continues its growth post 2026 FIFA World Cup and beyond, this position will help drive operational excellence, process improvement, and partner success across the Consumer Products portfolio.


Responsibilities

Licensee & Partner Management

  • Serve as day-to-day contact for assigned licensees and Premium Partners.
  • Manage ongoing partner communications regarding product approvals, marketing commitments, reporting requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Track seasonal product development timelines, line reviews, and key milestones to ensure timely market execution.
  • Support onboarding of new licensees and Premium Partners and ensure compliance with league policies and brand standards.
  • Coordinate product, packaging, and marketing initiatives with licensees, clubs, retailers, and internal stakeholders.

Product Approvals & Brand Compliance

  • Manage product submissions and approvals through MLS brand management systems.
  • Ensure products adhere to MLS brand guidelines, trademark requirements, quality standards, and club-specific requirements.
  • Maintain approval workflows and support continuous improvement of approval processes.
  • Partner with Legal and Brand teams on specimen collection, trademark protection, and operational compliance initiatives.

Royalty Administration & Business Operations

  • Manage royalty reporting timelines and coordinate collection of statements from assigned partners.
  • Review royalty reports for completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate quarterly invoicing and payment tracking with Finance.
  • Maintain contract summaries, royalty schedules, marketing commitments, and renewal calendars.
  • Develop reporting tools and dashboards that improve visibility into licensing performance and partner compliance.

Consumer Products Planning & Reporting

  • Maintain licensee line lists, seasonal product decks, launch calendars, and product asset libraries.
  • Prepare department recaps, business updates, presentations, and leadership reporting.
  • Support annual planning processes, category reviews, and business performance analyses.
  • Support the tracking of key business metrics and provide insights that support decision-making across the Consumer Products organization.

Event & Go-to-Market Support

  • Support execution of Consumer Products initiatives across tentpole events, including MLS All-Star, MLS Cup, Leagues Cup, Consumer Products Summit, and other league events.
  • Coordinate ticketing, hospitality, product needs, gifting programs, and partner activations.
  • Assist with seasonal marketing programs, newsletters, lookbooks, and retail support initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
  • Travel as required (approximately 10–20%).
  • Work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3-5+ years of experience in licensing, consumer products, retail, sports, entertainment, or a related field.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and external partner relationships.
  • Familiarity with royalty reporting, product development, licensing operations, or retail merchandising preferred.
