About the Role
As a member of Capital One's Capital Markets Legal Team you will deliver critical business, transactional and regulatory counsel support across Capital One's various capital markets funding activities, focusing primarily on credit card and auto securitizations. You will work closely with the Corporate Treasury team while managing legal risk and navigating complex securities and financial regulations. You will be part of a collaborative, inclusive and supportive Team that values your insight, encourages intellectual curiosity, rewards creative thinking and makes work fun.
To succeed in this role, you will need strong legal and analytical skills, an ability to navigate novel legal and business situations, the flexibility to simultaneously manage a wide range of projects and an ownership mindset. Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills are a must as well as the ability to work seamlessly with our business and legal partners.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the execution of credit card and auto securitization transactions for Capital One as issuer
  • Counseling and advising Corporate Treasury on the impact of changes in securities laws and regulations
  • Interpreting and providing guidance on existing agreements and obligations
  • Providing strategic legal advice on complex and novel issues
  • Collaborating with business partners to maintain securitization funding platforms, including supporting compliance with SEC reporting obligations
  • Provide legal support to businesses across Capital One on securitization and Reg AB related questions
  • Implementing and monitoring repeatable, controlled processes for capital markets transactions, including with respect to due diligence
  • Supervising process-oriented work of other legal professionals
  • Managing and coordinating outside counsel support and review

Basic Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
  • At least 1 of year experience in securities laws, including those governing asset-backed securities such as Regulation AB
  • At least 3 years of experience in a law firm, in-house legal department or a combination with a focus on capital markets and securitizations

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of experience supporting credit card and auto loan securitizations
  • In-depth knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to asset-backed securities

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $200,700 - $229,100 for Sr. Manager, Sr. Counsel
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
