You will be encouraged to build your profile internally by working collaboratively across departments and regions, reducing the company’s risk profile, and driving revenue growth.

Job Duties

    • Serve as a trusted advisor on all legal matters for internal stakeholders.
    • Manage the departmental budget.
    • Provide forward-looking, pragmatic legal guidance to our Executive, Sales, Marketing, and Commercial teams to ensure their activities, business practices, and transactions comply with relevant laws and regulations.
    • Assist with corporate secretarial tasks, including entity management, and drafting, updating, and maintaining the company’s policies and procedures.
    • Drive revenue by leading the drafting, review, and negotiation of agreements in support of the company’s business, such as installation agreements and terms and conditions for our solar, HVAC, and generator sales, construction agreements for our Commercial & Industrial team, material procurement contracts for our Supply Chain team, and various other marketing, consulting, and service agreements.
    • Manage escalated customer disputes and litigation matters; advise with respect to customer cancellations, liens, collections, and related matters.
    • Oversee the company’s vendor onboarding process, including leading the negotiation of vendor agreements and managing the company’s relationship with its third-party vendor onboarding partner.
    • Efficiently partner with outside legal counsel to promote Freedom Solar Power’s growth and interests.
    • Support the Executive team and the company’s key strategic projects, high-profile issues, and mission, while demonstrating its core values.
    • Develop and ensure adherence to legal guidelines and in-house policies, maintaining the company’s legal and ethical standards.

Qualifications

    • 3+ years as a licensed attorney.
    • JD from an accredited law school and active membership in the Texas State Bar (or ability to obtain admission within 60 days from start date).
    • Strong experience in commercial transactional matters, ideally in construction, energy, or project finance; some litigation experience is desirable.
    • Experience in, or at least a willingness to learn about, the renewable energy industry.
    • Capacity to work autonomously, handle multiple priorities, and excel in a dynamic environment.
    • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen who can clearly articulate recommendations to drive informed decision-making.
    • Ability to work from our office in Austin, TX. This is an in-office position.

Skills

    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get dirty in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Professional demeanor, high level of integrity, good judgment, attention to detail, and effective problem solver.
    • Alignment with the company’s mission and core values.

We understand you may be a great candidate without fitting all our preferred experience, knowledge, skills, and attributes. And you may have other skills that are valuable for the role, but which we haven’t thought of. Because we recognize this and we value diversity of thought, experience, and background, we still encourage you to apply.
