Lead and mentor a US creative team to deliver end-to-end 360 creative solutions across digital, social, video, and experiential. Own pitches, production, client presentations, and final sign-off; collaborate with sales, production, and editorial while optimizing workflows and operating as a player-coach.
Hypebeast is a leading global platform for contemporary culture and lifestyle, and a premier destination for editorially-driven news and commerce. Founded in 2005, it became a publicly listed company in 2016, and today boasts a global readership across North America, Asia Pacific, Europe and more. The Group has expanded its publishing brands to a wider scope, encompassing Hypebeast and its multiple content distribution platforms, creative agency Hypemaker, and e-commerce and retail platform HBX.
Hypebeast is looking for a Senior Creative Director to lead US creative across our media business and elevate our offering from branded content to full 360 creative solutions, spanning digital, social, video, and experiential. You will own the creative output of the US market end to end, from converting commercial leads into winning pitches, through production, to final delivery, while building and mentoring a multidisciplinary team of creatives, designers, and copywriters. This is a player-coach role: equally comfortable leading a large-scale campaign team or operating solo on a fast-turn brief.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and mentor a US creative team spanning senior, mid-weight, and junior creatives, graphic designers, and copywriters, directing in-house talent alongside freelance designers, copywriters, and production partners.
- Own the end-to-end creative output of the US market, from converting commercial leads into winning pitches, through production, to final delivery.
- Partner with Sales, Production, and Account Management to dissect client briefs and oversee the creative development of proposals that convert leads into revenue.
- Concept and oversee integrated 360 campaigns spanning digital, social, video, and experiential activations including events, pop-ups, installations, and live brand moments.
- Own the end-to-end process of building cultural and strategy-driven pitches, including decks and supporting materials, and present proposals to clients in person and on video alongside the sales team.
- Take responsibility for the quality of every project the team is across, ensuring branded content and creative solutions meet Hypebeast storytelling, visual, and cultural standards as well as client expectations, with final sign-off on all edits.
- Provide feedback across the full creative process, from strategy and concept through design and copy, and lead brainstorming that maintains the Hypebeast identity within client brief guidelines.
- Work closely with editorial and sales teams to establish tone of voice and the look and feel of final visuals, and lead the creation of copy across brochures, sales materials, and finished projects.
- Optimize creative processes, workflows, and inter-departmental working practices to manage a high volume of concurrent projects and deliver the best results.
- Operate as a player-coach: lead large-scale campaign teams when the brief calls for it, and run solo on fast-turn work when the situation demands.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience leading creative work and creative teams at a culturally relevant brand, platform, publisher, or creative/media agency.
- A confident, capable leader who thrives on diverse creative challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven leadership in executing world-class creative projects with teams of various sizes, resulting in a variety of outputs.
- Deep understanding of all facets of the creative lifecycle, from pitch to production to post, and how teams contribute to each.
- A connoisseur of culture with an eye for visual trends and an insightful, strategic approach to projects.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of creative experience at agencies, publishers, or brands relevant to Hypebeast's cultural space.
- A strong understanding of youth culture centered around the Hypebeast space, including relevant talent, brands, trends, publishers, and platforms.
- Wide understanding of, and affinity with, the platforms Hypebeast operates on, both established and emerging.
- Keen awareness of and passion for Hypebeast's cultural space; an ambassador for the brand.
- A portfolio of successful creative work across a diverse range of formats and sectors, including integrated campaigns and experiential.
- A confident communicator and leader able to foster and direct talent.
- Solid understanding of production costs and industry standards to manage expectations internally and externally.
- Creative Craft: Strong command of Adobe Creative Suite and core design and production fundamentals, the craft that turns concepts into finished, premium work.
- AI Literacy & Integration: Fluent with generative AI platforms across image, video, and copy to accelerate concepting, rapid prototyping, and campaign visualization.
- Production & Deck Craft: Exceptional storytelling and deck presentation skills, with the ability to seamlessly blend AI-generated assets with polished design to pitch and win business.
