The Team


The Senior Data Engineer will sit on the Data Team. We are a small, collegial group at the nexus of Engineering, Finance, Marketing, and Customer Success. As custodians of one of the Findigs’ most treasured assets—its data—we are responsible for our data warehouse architecture, our data pipeline stack, our key dashboards and metrics, and our growing data science mandate. We are excited to work closely with data that tells the stories of individual renters and the organization as a whole.


The Role 


The Senior Data Engineer will be instrumental in enhancing our data infrastructure, focusing on tasks such as replacing and improving data ingestion from Postgres databases and 3rd party APIs, managing pipeline orchestration with Temporal, and ensuring the robustness of our data pipelines. This role involves significant work with Snowflake for data warehousing, dbt for data transformation, and Python scripting for various tasks. Additionally, the position offers exciting greenfield opportunities in revamping our data feed delivery service and establishing data governance frameworks. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical skills and a proactive approach to innovative data solutions.

Where you will make an impact:

  • Data Ingestion and Integration: Lead the replacement and enhancement of our current tools for ingesting data from Postgres databases
  • Revamping Data Feed Delivery Service: Lead a greenfield project to revamp our data feed delivery service, innovating and implementing new solutions
  • Pipeline Orchestration with Temporal: Utilize Temporal for orchestrating and managing pipeline jobs effectively
  • Pipeline Hardening: Develop strategies to fortify our data pipeline, ensuring its resilience in handling diverse data issues
  • DataOps: Instill solid DataOps practices, leveraging knowledge of Snowflake’s unique capabilities in this area, to improve efficiency and reliability, and manage schema change.
  • Development with dbt: Utilize dbt for transforming data within our warehouse, maintaining the usability, utility, and correctness of our warehouse schema.
  • Data Governance Initiative: Spearhead a green field project in data governance, establishing frameworks and practices to manage and protect data effectively.

Qualifications of a successful candidate:

  • BA or MS in Computer Science, Data Science, or similar
  • 4+ years of experience in Data Engineering
  • Strong understanding of DataOps principles and best practices.
  • Experience in building and orchestrating data pipelines from end to end
  • Familiar with Snowflake unique features.
  • Comfortable in an AWS environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of modern Python and SQL 
  • Strong communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Genuine care and passion for clean, orderly data and processes.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with dbt
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and BI platforms.
  • Exposure to machine learning and advanced analytics.
  • Relevant certifications in data engineering technologies.
