We are the definitive voice shaping world-class design culture. This role focuses on editing and writing decor, trends, home tours, and related content across all of AD’s digital channels, including the site, newsletter, and social. The ideal candidate is design-obsessed, like we are!
Primary Responsibilities
Oversee all digital home tours end-to-end: scout projects and review submissions from designers, with an eye for compelling, globally shareable content on all platforms to support brand goals.
Work with Digital Director to shape and execute the digital strategy for AD as well as develop new digital revenue ideas in support of consumer and commercial programs.
Assign and edit copy to freelancers; manage shoots with Visuals and Video teams; write voice-y headlines; and produce/publish features.
Write and edit features on design trends, modern living, personal style, architecture, home decor, and related topics.
Work with the Talent group on celebrity and other high-profile features.
Develop and maintain a content calendar.
Work closely with Commerce and Video teams, suggesting homeowners and projects to spotlight.
Organize freelance contracts and payments.
Manage global internal syndication as needed.
Collaborate with audience development and analytics teams to develop content strategy for sections and site.
Work closely with the Social team to develop voice and tone, editing as needed.
Accountable for designer acquisition leads and introductions for the AD PRO Directory.
Oversee editorial newsletters: write, assign, package, and produce all daily newsletter content, with an ear for news and brand voice.
Organize seamless story promotion across all channels for both home tours and off-platform content.
Cultivate relationships with industry insiders, tastemakers, and experts for editorial and commercial programs. Represent AD internally and externally (in market, for PR, with clients, or other opportunities) as required.
Mentor and coach junior staffers across the editorial teams for growth and development.
Requirements
Highly organized self-starter, detail-oriented. Extraordinary interpersonal skills. Able to manage CMS and other publishing systems.
5+ years relevant editing/writing experience with major design publication(s).
Deep design-world contacts and connections, and a keen interest and understanding of the design industry. Established relationships with writers who can bring new voices and viewpoints to AD.
Impeccable taste and an eye for spotting trends.
Proven assigning, editing, top-editing, and packaging skills across multiple platforms, including site, social, newsletter, and more.
The expected base salary range for this position is from $92,500- $140,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
