About Strava

Strava is the app for active people. With over 200 million athletes in more than 185 countries, it’s more than tracking workouts—it’s where people make progress together, from new habits to new personal bests. No matter your sport or how you track it, Strava’s got you covered. Find your crew, crush your goals, and make every effort count. Start your journey with Strava today.

Our mission is simple: to motivate people to live their best active lives. We believe in the power of movement to connect and drive people forward.

About This Role

We're seeking a Senior Motion Designer to join our Creative team who brings confidence and consistency to how brands move across Strava and Runna. You'll execute creative expressions across brand campaigns, social content, and digital touchpoints, developing a motion language that feels cohesive from project to project and holds up with minimal direction.

Day to day, you'll be partnering closely with creative directors, designers, and copywriters to bring ideas to life. You'll also apply strong brand judgment and design craft across your work and help junior teammates grow their skill sets.

We follow a flexible hybrid model that translates to more than half of your time on-site in our San Francisco or New York City office, three days per week.

What You'll Do
  • Concept and develop our motion design language and a visual approach that feels cohesive and distinct to our brand ethos

  • Contribute to and help evolve our motion systems and templates that flex across marketing and product experiences, executing independently with minimal direction

  • Explore how AI tools can help scale consistent, high-quality motion execution as demand grows

  • Generate multiple strong creative directions from a brief and make the case for the strongest one

  • Apply strong brand judgment across touchpoints, flagging inconsistencies and helping partners maintain quality without needing to reference guidelines at every step

  • Manage your own projects end-to-end, anticipating production needs and prioritizing based on business impact rather than whatever's loudest

  • Partner with creative directors, designers, copywriters, and product teams, representing creative thinking clearly to non-creative collaborators across the company

What You'll Bring to the Team
  • 5–7+ years of experience as a Motion Designer with a portfolio showing you can execute independently across a range of formats and complexity, ideally including brand or campaign work.

  • Strong proficiency with After Effects, Figma, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Experience with Rive is not required, though we'd love someone excited to learn it, as it is our tool used for motion and interactivity in product

  • Working knowledge of 3D tools like Cinema 4D or Spline is a plus

  • Experience with UI/UX motion is a plus

  • Strong brand judgment, comfortable making creative calls independently and helping partners understand the reasoning behind them

  • A track record of managing your own projects end to end, including anticipating production needs and prioritizing under pressure

  • A collaborative, solutions-first approach: you work through obstacles proactively and bring options, not just problems
