POSITION TITLE: Senior Director, Brand Marketing

REPORT TO: Chief Marketing Officer

OFFICE: REMOTE

Overview

The Senior Director, Brand Marketing is a senior leader responsible for advancing, protecting, and evolving the Per Scholas brand across all channels and stakeholder touchpoints. This role leads enterprise brand strategy, governance, creative direction, and integrated brand campaigns that strengthen market positioning and support organizational growth.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Senior Director partners closely with Strategic Communications, Events, and Stakeholder Marketing to ensure a clear, consistent, and compelling brand presence across the organization.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in brand evolution, creative leadership, and change management, with experience leading complex, enterprise-wide brand initiatives in mission-driven environments.


Brand Strategy & Governance

  • Lead the evolution of Per Scholas’ brand strategy, positioning, architecture, and value proposition
  • Establish and uphold brand governance standards and guidelines
  • Define and steward core enterprise messaging, including approved “hero” statistics and key data points
  • Lead brand research and measurement initiatives to track awareness, perception, and brand health, translating insights into strategic action
  • Ensure consistent brand expression across all national and local (Campus) marketing efforts
  • Drive enterprise-wide brand education and adoption
  • Lead the procurement, implementation, and ongoing management of a digital asset management (DAM) system to enable scalable access to brand assets across national and local teams.

Campus Brand Partnership & Enablement

  • Serve as the primary brand partner to Campus teams and the central entry point for brand-related requests
  • Develop scalable toolkits, templates, and self-service resources to support strong local execution
  • Provide access to approved vendors and brand systems
  • Prioritize requests and determine when custom brand support is warranted
  • Partner with Events and Strategic Communications to elevate high-impact campus opportunities, particularly in media visibility and experiential brand design

Integrated Brand Campaigns

  • Develop and lead integrated brand campaigns aligned to enterprise priorities
  • Translate strategy into compelling creative concepts and storytelling frameworks
  • Ensure strong brand alignment across stakeholder campaigns and activations

Social Media Strategy & Planning

  • Set the enterprise social media strategy and define the role of social in advancing brand awareness and reputation
  • Establish content pillars, voice, and platform strategy
  • Align social planning with executive visibility, campaigns, and key organizational moments

Creative Direction & Production

  • Provide strategic oversight across content, design, video, print, and digital assets
  • Manage creative agencies and production partners

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Strategic Communications to ensure executive visibility, internal communications, and external reputation reinforce brand strategy
  • Collaborate with Events to ensure strong brand positioning across national and local experiences
  • Align with Stakeholder Marketing to integrate brand priorities with growth objectives

Team Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing Brand Marketing team
  • Oversee hiring, coaching, and performance management


Professional Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field, optional
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in brand marketing, creative strategy, and integrated campaign leadership
  • Experience leading enterprise brand refresh or evolution initiatives

Leadership Experience

  • 5–10+ years managing teams and external agencies
  • Proven success leading cross-functional initiatives in complex organizations

Brand, Creative, and Digital Expertise

  • Deep expertise in brand strategy, positioning, messaging, and integrated campaign development
  • Strong creative judgment and experience guiding visual identity and multi-channel content production
  • Experience building and managing brand governance frameworks
  • Familiarity with digital marketing channels including web, social, email, and content

Core Competencies

  • Strong change management and organizational influence skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Per Scholas mission and advancing economic equity

#LI-Hybrid

For this role specifically, we are targeting a salary range of $115,000 - $120,000 where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including the geography in which the selected candidate resides, and alignment with qualifications and experience.
